About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for taking the time to view my profile, my name is Rob and I am an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor I work primarily in a client centred style to offer a confidential, safe, warm supportive environment to individuals and couples. As an integrative therapist I am informed by psychodynamic principles and attachment theory to support and enable understanding of how life's experiences form and shape our personalities and ways of being.
I use aspects of psychoeducation within my practice with the aim of supporting the growth of client self awareness by exploring and creating a psychological toolbox of grounding techniques and self soothing stratagies in relation to commonly experienced symptoms of anxiety and depression and/or trauma. Each person is a unique being and are the expert on themselves, the collaborative sharing and exploration of these stratagies and techniques is ultimately working towards the autonomy and self efficacy of the individual.
The careful exploration of how early life experiences may shape our unconscious way of relating in the present and the more we bring these outside of awareness processes into conscious awareness the more we may understand ourselves and experience over time an improvement in our self esteem and our sense of safety and autonomy in the world and relationships. Such understanding may create the potential of positive change.
Our work may involve the explorative process of speaking together in such a way that your sharing with me your lived experience and my engaging with you in an attentive, curious, supportive manner enables you to speak felt truths that you may have been unable to vocalise in earlier relationships. By sharing your story in this collaborative fashion you may gain fresh insight and clarity into yourself as you work over past experiences. Sharing your story in therapy teaches you about yourself in new and unexpected ways.

I am a Registered Member of the Â鶹Դ´. I began training as a Counsellor in 2019 following careers in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Facilities Management. I completed my core qualification of a CPCAB L4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2022. During the early stages of my counselling journey I gained 3 years experience volunteering as a counsellor delivering a 3 phase trauma informed therapeutic model with a Reading Charity supporting the male, female and transgender victims of rape and sexual abuse, during that time I also had the privilege of co-facilitiating support groups for male victims of abuse.

I have carried out further Certificate level studies in Couples Counselling in 2024/5.
I completed a further qualification of the CPCAB L5 Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling in 2026 and am currently working towards achieving Â鶹Դ´ accreditation.
I am committed to continual professional development and passionately believe that everyone deserves to be seen, heard and supported.
My first session
I offer an initial free 15 minute phone call to explore your needs and expectations of therapy and establish that I am able to meet these for you. This also gives you the opportunity to see if I feel like a good fit as a therapist for you.
If after our call you choose to proceed we will arrange to meet for regular weekly 50 minute sessions for individual counselling. Couples counselling sessions are weekly 60 minute sessions. I would email you a copy of my therapeutic agreement for you to read prior to our first session. We would sign this agreement together during the first session, this document creates the therapeutic frame in which we will work towards your goals.
Our first session will involve a more in depth assessment of your history and present issues. My safeguarding duty of care to you requires that I hold basic details of your address and medical history.
Therapy is a collaborative journey of discovery and the therapeutic relationship is a dynamic and evolving experience in service to you the client.
