About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Sarah — welcome to my profile. Have a look around, and feel free to get in touch if you'd like to know more.

Counselling is a personal journey, and the relationship you build with your counsellor plays a big part in how safe, supported, and understood you feel. When you connect with the right person, it can make it easier to open up, explore difficult feelings, and find your own way forward. Everyone's needs are different, so it's important to find someone whose approach, values, and personality feel like a good fit for you.

I am a qualified counsellor with a warm, compassionate approach and a genuine passion for supporting people through life's challenges. I work with both adults and young people, offering a calm, supportive space where you can talk, reflect, and feel truly heard.

Practice description

My counselling approach is grounded in person-centred values. This means I'll listen with empathy, respect, and without judgement, valuing your experiences and supporting you to move forward in a way that feels right for you. I also work from a pluralist perspective — which means I adapt therapy to suit your individual needs, drawing on a range of tools and approaches, including creative and nature-based methods where helpful. I'm here to walk alongside you, offering empathy, curiosity, and support as you explore what matters most to you.

I offer counselling through my small independent practice, Nurture Counselling, and work part-time as a school counsellor, providing therapeutic support to young people aged 10 to 18 through one-to-one sessions, small groups, and psychoeducation. My previous experience also includes working in a Â鶹ԭ´´-accredited, community-based counselling organisation with adults facing a wide range of emotional and mental health challenges. With over 25 years experience as a midwife, I continue to practise part-time for a local NHS Trust, caring for women and families through pregnancy, birth, and the early stages of parenthood. These combined roles have given me a deep understanding of the different emotional challenges people encounter throughout life's transitions, and the skills to offer counselling that is compassionate, age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and inclusive.

My first session

Once we are in contact, I will arrange for us to have a free 15 minute telephone conversation or video call to talk through what’s bringing you to therapy, explain how I work and offer an opportunity for you to ask me questions.

If you then decide that working together feels like a good fit, we can arrange an initial session and I will send you a registration form and my practice terms, so you have everything you need ahead of time.

Regular sessions are 50-mins and usually on a weekly basis.

I am also happy to offer referrals where necessary, so that you can find the help you need.
