About me and my therapy practice
My name is David. I offer counselling and psychotherapy in Epsom, Surrey, and online for individuals and couples. At the heart of my work is the belief that change begins through conversation not rushed, not forced, but shaped by curiosity and a willingness to explore what is really going on beneath the surface.
People often come to counselling feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or worn down by patterns that no longer make sense. Sometimes the issue is clear; sometimes it isn鈥檛. My role is not to tell you who to be or what to do, but to sit alongside you and help create the conditions where understanding can grow. Together, we can slow things down, notice what matters, and explore experiences, relationships, and choices in a way that feels manageable and respectful of your pace.
I work with people experiencing burnout, anxiety, low mood, stress, and relationship difficulties, both at home and in working life. I welcome uncertainty and complexity. You do not need to arrive with the 鈥渞ight鈥 words or a clear story, curiosity often develops through the work itself.
I offer sessions in Epsom and online, and I work with clients from Ashtead, Guildford, Wimbledon, Raynes Park, Kingston, Leatherhead, London, and beyond via a secure online platform. Our work begins with an initial four-week consultation, centred on trust, to see how we get on and whether working together feels right.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (麻豆原创) and practice in line with their ethical framework, with particular attention to confidentiality, professionalism, and care. I work with people from all walks of life and aim to offer a grounded, thoughtful space where conversation can lead to meaningful change.
Practice description
How I Work
Starting therapy can come at many different moments 鈥 during a crisis, a period of change, or a quiet realisation that something is not working as it should. I offer a confidential, supportive space where you can explore what is going on for you and begin to make sense of it at your own pace.
I work with adults experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, addiction, grief, loss, stress, low self-esteem, and relationship issues. These challenges may affect your personal life, your work, or both. Some clients arrive with a clear focus, while others feel unsure where to begin. Therapy starts from where you are.
Our work is collaborative. Together, we explore what may be contributing to your difficulties and how these experiences continue to influence your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in the present. By gently exploring past experiences and the feelings connected to them, in a compassionate and non-judgemental way, we create the conditions for meaningful change.
As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to each individual rather than working from a single model. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to suit your needs, pace, and goals. Sessions take place in a safe, confidential environment where open conversation supports greater understanding and healthier ways of coping.
I work in accordance with the 麻豆原创 Ethical Framework, attend regular clinical supervision, and maintain confidentiality at all times, with any limits clearly explained.
My Location
I offer face-to-face counselling in Epsom from a private study within my home. The space is calm, quiet, and welcoming, with free parking available.
I also offer online therapy via a secure, encrypted online platform, providing the same level of care with your wellbeing always at the centre of the work.
My first session
Your First Session 鈥 Moving Forward With Confidence
Beginning therapy is a personal process, and feeling able to trust the person you speak to is essential. I aim to offer a calm, respectful, and supportive space where you can take time to decide whether working together feels right for you.
I offer a free, no-obligation 30-minute call, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, explore your best hopes and expectations for therapy, and get a sense of how I work before deciding to move forward. This conversation is about clarity rather than pressure, allowing you to make a choice that feels considered and comfortable.
If you choose to continue, our first session (50 minutes) focuses on gaining an overall understanding of your situation, what feels most important for you to explore, and how you would like therapy to support you. Rather than following a fixed structure, we begin shaping a way of working that reflects your needs, pace, and preferences.
What makes my practice different is the four-week 鈥済etting to know you鈥 phase. This initial period allows us to build a therapeutic relationship, explore patterns in more depth, and reflect on how the work feels for you, without pressure to commit long-term from the outset.
Many people seek therapy after spending a long time setting aside their own needs or containing difficult emotions. Over time, this can lead to feeling stuck or overwhelmed. I offer a dedicated space where you can focus on yourself, feel heard and understood, and begin to develop greater clarity.
I provide counselling and psychotherapy in Epsom, across Surrey, and online through a secure encrypted platform, adapting the work to your individual circumstances. My aim is to help you move forward with greater confidence through a therapeutic process grounded in trust.
