About me and my therapy practice

Discovery begins in connection鈥攚ithin yourself, with your story, and in relationship with another. You can explore more about me and my approach at www.markgr.co.uk

As a relational integrative therapist, I see the therapeutic relationship as central to the work we do together. Therapy with me is a collaborative process鈥攔ooted in mutual curiosity, openness, and mindfulness鈥攚here we explore your experience at a pace that feels right for you. I bring warmth, compassion, kindness, and gentle humour to our work, helping to create a space where trust can grow. Integrating different therapeutic perspectives allows me to respond flexibly to what you need in the moment, and together we make sense of what feels most alive, uncertain, or in need of care.

I鈥檓 a queer person and a committed LGBTQIA+ ally. As an autistic person with ADHD, I care deeply about making therapy inclusive, affirming, and accessible for all neurodiverse experiences. I鈥檓 also attentive to how systemic influences鈥攍ike patriarchy鈥攕hape our lives, identities, and relationships, across all genders and backgrounds.

My practice is sex-positive, and I work with individuals and couples, including those in non-traditional relationship forms. I bring a respectful, open approach to conversations around intimacy, identity, and connection.

I鈥檓 also interested in spirituality in the broadest sense鈥攈ow we make meaning, what gives us a sense of belonging, and where we find hope. I have experience working with clients from a wide range of spiritual or faith traditions, as well as those who are spiritually curious or hold no spiritual beliefs. What matters most is what鈥檚 meaningful to you.

Having received therapy at different points in my own life, I know its transformative power. With over 25 years鈥 experience supporting people through life鈥檚 complexities鈥攇rief, identity, transitions鈥擨 bring compassion, clarity, and deep respect to all I do.

Practice description

I am a relational integrative therapist offering in-person sessions for adults in London W1. 鈥楻elational鈥 means I place the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work鈥攈ealing often happens through trust, attunement, and connection. 鈥業ntegrative鈥 reflects my use of multiple approaches鈥攊ncluding psychodynamic, humanistic, and CBT鈥攖ailored to your needs and the flow of our work together.

Some clients arrive with a clear goal; others feel stuck or overwhelmed but aren鈥檛 sure where to begin. Both are welcome. Therapy isn鈥檛 about giving advice or fixing you鈥攊t鈥檚 a reflective, collaborative process where new insight and change become possible. I may offer perspectives, but always with respect for your autonomy. You don鈥檛 need to fit a mould. You鈥檙e welcome to bring yourself as you are, whether through words, silence, metaphor, or feeling.

As a queer and neurodivergent therapist, I offer an affirming space for LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, and culturally diverse clients. I attend to the impact of systems like patriarchy, racism, and ableism where relevant, while also centring your lived experience and agency.

My consulting room in W1 is minutes from Bond Street and Oxford Circus, with excellent public transport and nearby parking. I offer flexible scheduling鈥攚eekly, fortnightly, or spaced out鈥攕o therapy can fit alongside your life. Many clients find a sense of grounding in returning to the same quiet, contained space.

Whatever brings you, we can explore it at your pace. Therapy can be a space to reconnect with yourself, reflect on your story, and feel more alive in your life. Discovery begins in connection鈥攚ithin yourself, with your story, and in relationship with another.

My first session

If you鈥檙e considering in-person therapy in Central London, you鈥檙e welcome to contact me for a free phone conversation to ask questions and get a sense of how I work. If you prefer to connect by email, that鈥檚 completely fine too鈥攚hatever feels most comfortable for you.

Our first paid session is a mutual 'assessment'鈥攁 space to begin exploring whether working together feels like the right fit. For some people, that becomes clear in the first meeting. For others, it may take a few sessions to settle in, especially if you鈥檙e bringing something complex or unclear.

Before we meet, I鈥檒l invite you to complete an online working agreement. This outlines how I practise and offers prompts to help you reflect on what you may want from therapy. It supports clarity and shared understanding from the outset.

In our first session at my quiet, accessible room in London W1 (close to Bond Street and Oxford Circus), we鈥檒l revisit this agreement and begin to explore what鈥檚 brought you here. There鈥檚 no pressure to share more than feels right. You don鈥檛 need to arrive with a fully formed story or goal鈥攕ometimes the first step is simply acknowledging that something needs space.

There is no one 鈥渞ight鈥 way to begin. You might speak freely, pause in silence, use metaphor, or explore imagery or movement. However you express yourself, I鈥檒l meet you with respect, care, and curiosity.

I welcome clients from all walks of life, including those new to therapy, as well as queer, neurodivergent, and culturally diverse clients. I鈥檓 attentive to how systems like patriarchy, racism, ableism, and other power structures may shape your inner and outer worlds. Therapy with me includes space for these reflections, should you choose.

At the end of our first session, we鈥檒l talk about whether you鈥檇 like to continue. If you鈥檙e unsure, you鈥檙e free to take time before deciding. Therapy is a commitment鈥攁nd finding the right therapist is an important part of that journey.

Practice description

I am a relational integrative therapist. 鈥楻elational鈥 means I place the therapeutic relationship at the heart of the work, recognising that meaningful change happens through the trust and collaboration we co-create. 鈥業ntegrative鈥 reflects that I draw from multiple therapeutic approaches鈥攊ncluding Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, and Humanistic models鈥攖ailoring the work to your unique needs, preferences, and goals.

I work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and life experiences. Some clients arrive with clear aims; others are unsure where to begin, but know something needs care or attention. Both are valid places to start.

Therapy is not about giving advice. Instead, it鈥檚 a space for reflection, exploration, and change. I may offer perspectives or invitations, but always with respect for your autonomy. A therapist can be like a mirror鈥攈elping you see your life more clearly and supporting you in finding new possibilities.

You might express yourself through talking, silence, creativity, or metaphor. You don鈥檛 have to fit a mould. I welcome neurodivergent, queer, and culturally diverse clients, and aim to offer a space where your whole self can be met with curiosity and compassion. I also pay attention to how systems like patriarchy, racism, and other forms of inequality may shape your experience, and can hold space for this if relevant to you.

To deepen the work, it can be helpful to reflect between sessions鈥攖hrough journaling, notes, or creative means. The impact of therapy often grows in the spaces between.

Whether you have a clear direction or are simply feeling your way forward, we can work together at your pace and in a way that honours your story.

My first session

You're welcome to contact me for a free telephone conversation to ask questions and get a sense of me as a person. Some clients prefer to do this by email, which is also completely fine.

Your first paid session is an assessment鈥攁 space for us to explore whether working together feels right. For some, this is clear from the start; for others, it may take a few sessions, especially depending on what brings you to therapy.

Before we meet, I鈥檒l invite you to complete an online working agreement via my website. This outlines the practicalities of how I work and offers a chance to reflect on what you may want from therapy. It鈥檚 designed to support mutual clarity and informed consent from the outset.

In our first session, we鈥檒l go over this agreement and begin to explore what鈥檚 brought you here. You鈥檙e welcome to share as much or as little as feels safe. There鈥檚 no 鈥渞ight鈥 way to begin鈥攅specially if you鈥檙e new to therapy. Some arrive with clear goals; others come with a feeling that something needs space or support.

You might express yourself through words, silence, images, metaphor, or movement. However you communicate, I aim to meet you with openness, curiosity, and respect. I work with adults of all ages, including those navigating therapy for the first time, and welcome clients across a wide range of identities and experiences鈥攊ncluding queer, neurodivergent, and culturally diverse clients.

I pay attention to how systems like patriarchy, racism, ableism and other intersecting forms of power may shape your life and sense of self. Therapy with me includes space to reflect on these influences if you choose.

At the end of our first session, we鈥檒l talk about whether you鈥檇 like to continue. If you鈥檙e unsure, you鈥檙e welcome to take time before deciding.

Finding the right therapist can take time. Trust yourself鈥攜ou鈥檒l know when it feels like a good fit.
