About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor, offering a warm, supportive space tailored to your individual needs. I work in private practice, with local GP services, and as a school counsellor. I specialise in bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression, stress management, trauma, suicidal thoughts, and working with children and young people.
As an integrative therapist, I don’t believe one size fits all. Every person is different, so I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to find what works best for you. This might include person-centred therapy where you are the expert on your own life, or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which can help you explore patterns of thinking and behaviour through practical tools. I’m currently training in the Rewind Technique, a gentle and effective approach used to reduce the emotional impact of trauma, phobias, and distressing memories, without needing to revisit the details of the experience.
My aim is to build a trusting, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to explore what’s going on for you. Together, we can work towards understanding your thoughts and feelings, developing coping strategies, and moving towards a more hopeful and fulfilling life.
Practice description
Counselling is a personal journey, unique to each individual. Whether you're new to therapy or have experienced it before, I’ll meet you with openness and without judgment. My focus is on creating a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. At the heart of your journey, I want you to feel truly heard, validated, and supported every step of the way.
My approach to therapy is grounded in humanistic principles, which means I see you as a unique individual with your own story. I take the time to understand you as a whole person emotionally, mentally, and physically. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey of healing and self-discovery. Because every counselling experience is different, I tailor my approach to suit your specific needs and goals.
My first session
Taking the first step can be the hardest, and if you’re reading this, you’ve already begun your journey toward emotional wellbeing and creating the life you want. Counselling can be a valuable part of that process, helping you restore balance and gain clarity in a supportive space.
Every counselling journey begins with a Pre-Therapy Assessment, a relaxed, free 15-minute phone consultation that gives us a chance to see if working together feels like the right fit for you. If you decide to move forward, ongoing sessions are held face-to-face, by telephone, or online via Google Meet. Sessions last 50 minutes and take place weekly or bi-weekly.
Before we get started, I’ll email you a copy of the counselling agreement to review in your own time. We’ll begin by going through any questions you may have and making any necessary adjustments together. I’ll also take a moment to explain how I work as an integrative counsellor, so you’ll know what to expect from our sessions.
We’ll then have a brief conversation about what’s brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to gain from it, and how we might structure our sessions to support you best. From there, the session is yours to lead, we’ll focus on whatever feels most important for you to explore.
