About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully trained and qualified UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)鈥 and British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (麻豆原创)鈥搑egistered Psychotherapist and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (LLB Law, MSc, and Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy), with extensive experience supporting people experiencing psychological distress, mental health and disability diagnoses, and the impacts of social inequality across hospital and community settings. My work is grounded in compassion, inclusion, and social justice, offering therapy that is Humanistic, integrative, and trauma-informed, relational, and responsive to the complexities of people鈥檚 lives.

I provide empathic therapy to adults of any identity, gender, culture, class, or spirituality. I support people who may feel anxious, depressed, lonely, or overwhelmed, including those experiencing trauma, childhood abuse, domestic abuse, grief, low self-esteem, attachment difficulties, and complex mental health challenges. I also support relationship, intimacy, sex and sexuality issues, LGBTQ+ experiences, neurodiversity such as autism and ADHD, and feelings of 鈥渘ot fitting in.鈥

Alongside private practice, I work in NHS hospital inpatient settings with large, complex caseloads, supporting severe and enduring mental health difficulties, including co-occurring or comorbid presentations such as psychosis, schizophrenia, addictions, ADHD, autism, and complex trauma. This work is conducted within multidisciplinary teams that include doctors, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social care professionals, GPs, and housing services, as well as the criminal justice system.

Teaching large MSc Psychotherapy and BSc Counselling cohorts and contributing to reflective practice maintains a research-informed, ethically grounded approach, while my advocacy and community work inform an inclusive, socially aware practice that prioritises empowerment, collaboration, and practical support.

Practice description

I work with adults from all backgrounds, providing psychotherapy and counselling that is inclusive, non-judgemental, and tailored to each person鈥檚 pace, capacity, and needs. I support people experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, trauma, attachment difficulties, relationship, sex and sexuality challenges, LGBTQ+ experiences, neurodiversity, and the ongoing impact of domestic abuse. I also support adults navigating complex life or emotional challenges, including feelings of 鈥渘ot fitting in鈥 and difficulties in interpersonal relationships.

My practice draws on extensive professional experience, including high-intensity NHS inpatient work with severe and enduring mental health difficulties, often presenting with co-occurring or comorbid conditions such as psychosis, schizophrenia, addictions, ADHD, autism, and complex trauma. I work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams alongside doctors, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social care, GPs, housing services, and the criminal justice system, contributing clinical insight and supporting holistic care planning.

I use a Humanistic, integrative, and trauma-informed approach, drawing on Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Attachment Theory, Existential, Mentalisation, and neuroscience-informed perspectives, while attending to embodied experience and individual context. My work is informed by awareness of intersectional, systemic, and socio-political factors, alongside experience supporting clients from diverse, multi-racial, and neurodiverse backgrounds.

Grounded in long-standing community, housing, and advocacy work, my practice emphasises relational safety as a vehicle for change, emotional stabilisation, empowerment, practical support, and insight-driven strategies. I help clients explore underlying difficulties while developing coping skills, strategies, and resilience to navigate complex challenges and foster positive change.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and explore what has brought you to therapy. You can share whatever feels important, including current challenges, past experiences, or thoughts and feelings that may have been difficult to express. There is no expectation to share everything immediately, and the pace of the session is guided by you.

I provide a trauma-informed, relational space where emotional safety, stabilisation, and trust are priorities. The session is collaborative, creating a supportive environment in which your experiences are heard, validated, and respected. We can begin to explore how your feelings and challenges may be related to life experiences, relationships, and broader social or systemic influences.

I listen carefully, reflect with you, and help you begin to make sense of your experiences, while exploring practical strategies, coping skills, and insights that may support you alongside emotional processing. This includes working with complex or overlapping difficulties, such as mental health challenges, neurodiversity, relational or intimacy issues, sex and sexuality challenges, or the ongoing impact of trauma and abuse. The session also considers how identity, culture, social context, and intersectional factors may shape your experiences and well-being.

By the end of the session, we can discuss possible next steps, including whether longer-term therapy, short-term support, or single-session work may be most helpful. The focus is on building a trusting, collaborative, and supportive therapeutic relationship, so you can decide whether working together feels right for you. The session provides a safe space to explore patterns, identify coping strategies, and begin developing emotional regulation, insight, and resilience from the outset.
