About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Laurie, an integrative counsellor offering online therapy to adults aged 18+ across the UK, including those based in Nottingham. You may find yourself prioritising everyone else, staying busy, or pushing through even when you鈥檙e exhausted. Over time, this can leave you unsure of how you feel, guilty for resting, or uncertain about what you need or want. You might notice patterns of self-neglect, people-pleasing, or a tendency to minimise your own struggles because others seem to be managing.
I work with people who are used to putting themselves last 鈥 often capable, caring, and outwardly coping, while quietly feeling emotionally worn down or disconnected from their own needs.
In my work, I offer a calm and reflective space where you don鈥檛 have to keep setting yourself aside. Therapy isn鈥檛 about judging these patterns 鈥 it鈥檚 about understanding how they developed, what they once helped you manage, and how they continue to shape your relationship with yourself. Together, we work toward developing greater self-awareness, reducing self-criticism, and learning how to recognise and respond to your own needs with more care and compassion.
If you鈥檙e tired of always being the one who adapts or copes, therapy may offer a supportive place to begin reconnecting with yourself 鈥 without pressure or expectation.
Practice description
I'm often described as warm, down-to-earth, and compassionate. I鈥檓 not a blank-slate therapist 鈥 while I鈥檒l offer space to reflect and explore, I鈥檒l also share insights and observations where I think they may be helpful. I aim to be human and relatable in the room, and where it feels appropriate, a sense of humour can be part of our work together too.
Therapy with me is a collaborative process. We work at a pace that feels manageable, exploring how familiar patterns developed, what they once helped you survive, and what you may need now. This often includes making space for emotions that were previously overlooked, and understanding how life experiences, relationships, loss, or long-standing expectations continue to shape your inner world.
When words feel hard to access, we can draw on metaphor, humour, or creativity. I work integratively, using trauma-informed, somatic, parts-informed, and creative approaches to help you tune into what鈥檚 happening beneath the surface 鈥 especially when talking alone doesn鈥檛 quite feel like enough.
Alongside self-doubt and overwhelm, I have a specialist interest in grief and loss 鈥 including bereavement, family estrangement, and life changes that alter your sense of identity or direction.
Many clients share that over time they leave therapy having built a kinder relationship with themselves, feeling less weighed down by self-doubt and overthinking, and more connected to who they are 鈥 not just who others want them to be.
All sessions are delivered online so you can join from wherever feels most comfortable and confidential. And yes 鈥 your pets are always welcome to!
My first session
If something here resonates and you鈥檙e curious about what working together might look like, you鈥檙e welcome to get in touch to book a free 15-minute introductory call. This gives us a chance to see how it feels to connect, for me to explain how I work and answer any questions you might have.
If it feels like a good fit and we decide to work together, our first session is a gentle starting point. I鈥檒l invite you to share what鈥檚 brought you to therapy and what feels most present for you right now 鈥 this can be clear, messy, or uncertain. There鈥檚 no expectation to know exactly what to say or where to begin, and you don鈥檛 need to prepare anything in advance.
Our first session doesn鈥檛 have to be about diving into everything at once. It鈥檚 about creating a space that feels collaborative, supportive and containing. Many people find relief simply in having space to speak openly, without being judged, dismissed, or rushed.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Laurie, an integrative counsellor offering online therapy to adults aged 18+ across the UK, including those based in Cambridge.
You might spend a lot of time in your head, analysing decisions, replaying conversations, or questioning yourself long after the moment has passed. On the outside, you might appear high-functioning and together, while inside you feel tense, worn down, or quietly unsure of yourself. Rest can feel uncomfortable, slowing down can bring guilt, and it may be hard to know what you actually need beneath everything you鈥檙e holding.
I work with people who often feel mentally overloaded 鈥 thoughtful, capable, and conscientious, yet stuck in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, and pressure to get things right.
In my work, I offer a calm, reflective space where you don鈥檛 have to perform, justify yourself, or arrive with clear answers. Therapy isn鈥檛 about fixing you 鈥 it鈥檚 about understanding how your experiences, expectations, and coping strategies have shaped the way you relate to yourself and others. Together, we explore patterns such as overthinking, people-pleasing, emotional disconnection, or fears of being too much or not enough, and work toward rebuilding self-trust, easing mental strain, and learning how to recognise and honour your own needs.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Laurie, an integrative counsellor offering online therapy to adults aged 18+ across the UK.
If you鈥檙e like the many people I work with, you appear capable, thoughtful, and 鈥渢ogether鈥 on the outside, yet live with persistent self-doubt, a constant knot of anxiety, and feel worn down from constantly questioning yourself. You might feel guilty for resting, unsure of your needs, or stuck doubting your own decisions 鈥 sometimes without a clear moment when things felt like they 鈥渨ent wrong鈥 or even when life looks 鈥渇ine鈥 to everyone else.
I work with people who often feel stuck 鈥 in their heads, in their relationships, or in long-standing patterns of taking care of others while quietly feeling the strain of having no-one really looking after them in return. You may be overthinking decisions, replaying conversations, or finding yourself worn down by relationships that feel confusing or emotionally draining. Sometimes this follows a shift in life 鈥 a change, an ending, or an experience that unsettled something 鈥 and you鈥檙e left wondering why it feels so hard to move forward.
In my work, I offer a calm, reflective space where you don鈥檛 have to explain yourself perfectly or arrive with clear answers. Therapy isn鈥檛 about fixing you. It鈥檚 about understanding how your experiences have shaped the way you relate to yourself and others. Together, we explore patterns such as people-pleasing, emotional numbness, or fears of being too much or not enough. Over time, we work toward rebuilding self-trust, easing the weight of constant overthinking, and learning how to recognise and honour your own needs in a busy world.
If you鈥檝e been living with a quiet sense that something isn鈥檛 right, feeling that you鈥檙e never quite being enough, unsure of who you are within and outside of your relationships, or carrying the pressure to always appear 鈥渇ine鈥; therapy might be a supportive place to begin letting some of that weight go.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Laurie, an integrative counsellor offering online therapy to adults aged 18+ across the UK, including those based in Leeds. You might feel overwhelmed by the mental load of everyday life, stretched thin by work, relationships, or responsibilities, or notice that you鈥檙e always pushing on even when you鈥檙e exhausted. Perhaps you鈥檝e become used to minimising how hard things feel, telling yourself you should be able to cope, while privately feeling tense, irritable, or disconnected.
I work with people who are coping on the surface, yet feel emotionally worn down beneath it 鈥 holding things together, getting through the days, but quietly struggling to rest, switch off, or feel like themselves.
In my work, I offer a calm, reflective space where you don鈥檛 have to keep going at the same pace. Therapy isn鈥檛 about pushing you to do more or be different 鈥 it鈥檚 about understanding what鈥檚 been asked of you, how you鈥檝e learned to manage, and what your mind and body may be needing now. Together, we work toward easing overwhelm, reducing self-pressure, and developing ways of relating to yourself that feel more sustainable and less driven by constant effort.
If you鈥檙e feeling worn down by the weight of coping, therapy may offer a supportive place to pause, make sense of what鈥檚 going on, and begin finding a steadier way forward.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Laurie, an integrative counsellor offering online therapy to adults aged 18+ across the UK, including those based in Edinburgh.
You may be moving through life doing what鈥檚 expected of you, while privately feeling flat, restless, or out of sync with yourself. Perhaps a change, an ending, or a gradual accumulation of experiences has left you questioning your sense of direction or identity. On the outside, things may look fine, yet inside you feel uncertain, worn down, or like something important has been lost along the way.
I work with people who feel quietly disconnected from themselves 鈥 unsure of who they are, where they鈥檙e heading, or why life doesn鈥檛 feel as settled or meaningful as they expected it might by now.
In my work, I offer a calm, reflective space where you don鈥檛 have to have everything worked out. Together, we explore patterns such as self-doubt, emotional disconnection, or the pressure to live up to roles that no longer fit, and work toward reconnecting with yourself in a way that feels steadier, more authentic, and more your own.
If you鈥檝e been living with a sense of uncertainty, disconnection, or quiet dissatisfaction, therapy may offer a supportive place to pause, reflect, and begin finding your way forward.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Laurie, an integrative counsellor offering online therapy to adults aged 18+ across the UK, including those based in Bristol.
You may be the one others rely on, the one who listens, adapts, or keeps things steady. Over time, this can leave you feeling worn down by relationships that feel one-sided, confused about your own needs, or anxious about disappointing people if you speak up. You might notice patterns of people-pleasing, conflict avoidance, or staying silent about how you really feel, even when it comes at a cost to your own wellbeing.
I work with people who often find themselves carrying a lot for others 鈥 emotionally, practically, or relationally 鈥 while quietly feeling depleted, unseen, or unsure of how to ask for support in return.
In my work, I offer a calm and thoughtful space where you don鈥檛 have to hold everything together. Therapy isn鈥檛 about blaming yourself for these patterns 鈥 it鈥檚 about understanding how they developed, what they once helped you manage, and how they continue to shape your relationships today. Together, we explore ways of building clearer boundaries, reconnecting with your own needs, and developing relationships that feel more balanced, honest, and emotionally safe.
If you鈥檙e tired of always being the one who gives, adapts, or copes, therapy may offer a place to begin putting yourself back into the picture 鈥 without guilt.
