About me and my therapy practice

Hello,

I’m Spencer, I have over fifteen years of experience working with individuals and groups in various capacities. I conduct my private practice in North West and South West London.

I provide an integrative humanistic approach (which means drawing from varied therapeutic approaches and interventions), striving for connectedness in the here and now. I meet you exactly where you are, open to the journey we take together on the path of therapy.

I’m a capable but not infallible guide, helping you to recover your own aliveness and to connect with the wisdom that has come from your life experience. I am willing to go to challenging places. I’ve worked hard to understand myself. I’ve come a long way and I consider myself to still be on the path of self-discovery.

In addition to my private counselling practice I work within the NHS, as well as charities supporting people with various difficulties, including schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder and autism. I have studied many personal development practices both east and west, ancient and modern, I have a decades long meditation practice and I lead regular weekly support groups, workshops and retreats focusing on self-awareness, authentic communication and awakening.

Practice description

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling (CPPD, Â鶹ԭ´´-accredited). I have also attended further workshops:- Working with Suicide, Trauma, Eating Disorders, CBT, Psychiatry, Psychopathology and Psychodynamics and the Neuroscience of Attachment.

As a final year student studying a Level 7 Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, I can offer lower-cost relationship therapy for up to X sessions. I am also an Honorary Psychosexual Therapist at Homerton University Hospital (NHS Foundation Trust) in the Clifden Centre.

My approach is always about relationships. I work with a variety of relationship styles. Relationships and sexuality lie at the core of the human experience. Each relationship is as unique as the individuals within it. Simillarly sex takes many forms, and our enjoyment of it is often shaped by how safe and comfortable we feel being intimate with someone else.

When relationships are put to the test, intimacy is often the first casualty and the hardest to rebuild.

Talking about sexual and relationship concerns can feel overwhelming for couples. Involving a therapist can help both partners feel heard and understood, and guide them through the most sensitive parts of difficult conversations around intimacy, sexual problems, and communication breakdowns.

My work often focuses on challenging unhelpful beliefs and habits, while helping people develop healthier communication strategies and stronger relationship dynamics. Building the relationship you want takes commitment, prioritisation, and consistent effort! Partners who benefit most from working with me are those ready and willing to do the work and invest time and attention in their relationship.

I’m a Student Member of COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists)
