About me and my therapy practice
My names Melanie , an experienced Counsellor working with children, teenagers and adults. My specialism is working with teenagers and young people. I help people struggling with anxiety, depression, panic disorder, anger management, social anxiety, suicidal thoughts and feeling sad.
I am an Integrative Counsellor where I draw upon many approaches Play Therapy , Trauma Focused, Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I work with children and young people who are struggling with mental health issues that manifest in the form of anxiety, depression, low self esteem.
During our sessions we will explore and address unhelpful thinking patterns : along with digging deeper into the root causes and triggers. Moving forwards week by week, lifting symptoms and overall wellbeing.
It takes courage to reach out and ask for support, so its important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with.
Practice description
I have extensive experience working with children and young people however I have also thoroughly enjoyed working with adults too. I have worked in secondary schools for the last ten years supporting children with challenging behaviour, low self - esteem, anxiety and ADHD/ASC .
I worked at Phoenix Counselling Services for two years on a placement where I gained an immense passion for helping people. I also worked at MID Mediation and Counselling for two years supporting children after their parents separate or divorce. I have worked in secondary schools supporting young people to overcome challenges they are facing enabling them flourish into confident individuals. I also work as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead DDSL (Level 3) training where I'm responsible for child protection, identifying abuse, responding to disclosures and working with multi agencies in a school setting.
I will provide you with a warm, confidential and non-judgmental space to help you explore your thoughts ,feelings and behavior. Which will enable you to have a greater awareness of yourself and improve relationships with others.

During our first session I will go through a quick assessment with you , and if you feel comfortable then I will talk through the contract with you which you can read through and return to me on your next session.
