About me and my therapy practice

You may be here because your relationship feels stuck.

Perhaps you鈥檙e having the same argument again and again. One of you feels unheard; the other feels criticised or shut out. You might love each other deeply, yet feel increasingly distant, misunderstood or exhausted by conflict.

Even strong relationships can get pulled into painful cycles.

Often beneath the tension there is hurt 鈥 and a longing to feel close, secure and understood again.

I specialise in working with couples who feel caught in these patterns. In our work together, we slow things down and look carefully at what happens between you. Not to decide who is right or wrong, but to understand the cycle that keeps taking over.

When couples can see the pattern clearly, it becomes something you face together rather than something that divides you.

Reconnection is possible 鈥 even when things have felt heavy for some time.

Individual Work

I also work with adults who are living with the longer-term impact of childhood experiences that may not have looked obviously traumatic from the outside.

Many of the people who come to see me describe their childhood as 鈥渇ine鈥 or even happy. They don鈥檛 want to criticise their parents. And yet, emotionally, something may have been missing.

Perhaps one or both parents were emotionally unavailable. Feelings weren鈥檛 always acknowledged. You may have learned to cope quietly, to be the responsible one, or not to need too much.

Often there is a quiet belief underneath things:

鈥淚鈥檓 not quite good enough.鈥

Or, 鈥淚 might be too much.鈥

That tension can shape how you relate to others 鈥 in your friendships, your work, and your intimate relationships.

There is nothing 鈥渨rong鈥 with you. Many of the ways you cope once helped you adapt. Therapy offers space to understand those patterns so they no longer quietly shape your present.

Practice description

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you鈥檙e used to managing on your own or keeping the peace.

I offer a calm, steady and boundaried space where you can speak openly and feel heard. We move at a pace that feels manageable, without pressure to 鈥済et it right.鈥

If you鈥檙e unsure whether this is the right step, you鈥檙e welcome to arrange an initial conversation to see how it feels to talk together.

I offer a free 20-minute introductory call. This is a chance to ask any questions, talk a little about what鈥檚 been going on for you 鈥 or for you both 鈥 and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. There鈥檚 no pressure to commit; it鈥檚 simply a gentle way to begin.

You鈥檙e very welcome to get in touch.

About me and my therapy practice

You keep trying to feel better, calmer, more secure in yourself, but the same patterns keep returning.

Maybe you replay conversations long after they've ended, struggle to trust your own judgement, or work hard to keep the peace yet still feel like you're getting it wrong. Perhaps there's a quiet sense that other people find life easier than you do.

Something in your earlier experiences may have shaped the way you move through relationships and the world around you. Ways of coping that once helped you feel safe or connected may now leave you feeling anxious, disconnected, or unsure of yourself.

I specialise in working with adults who are living with the longer term effects of emotional neglect, relational trauma, narcissistic or alcoholic parenting, domestic abuse and loss. You don't need to arrive with a clear sense of what went wrong. We figure that out together.

Many people find that having a steady space to reflect helps things feel clearer, more manageable, and less lonely over time.

There's no pressure to explain yourself perfectly or "get it right." We move at a pace that feels right for you.

Couples Work

You love each other. So why does it feel this hard?

The same argument keeps surfacing. Conversations either escalate into something painful, or one of you shuts down entirely. You might feel criticised, invisible, or completely alone even when you're in the same room.

Sometimes all that's needed is the opportunity to step back, see things more clearly, and find a different way of responding to each other.

In couples work, we slow these moments down. Rather than working out who's right, we focus on understanding the pattern that takes over and helping you recognise it before it escalates.

Even when things feel fragile, it is possible to rebuild safety and connection. What once felt like something driving you apart can begin to feel like something you face together.

Practice description

Starting therapy can feel like a significant step, particularly if you're used to coping alone, minimising your needs, or keeping the peace in relationships.

I offer a calm, thoughtful space where there's no pressure to explain yourself perfectly or arrive with everything figured out. We move at a pace that feels right for you.

If you'd like to find out more before taking the next step, I offer a free 20 minute introductory call. It's simply a chance to talk a little about what's been going on and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. No pressure, just a conversation.

My first session

In our first session, we take time to explore where you are right now and what is bringing you to therapy. We begin to think about what you hope might feel different over time, whether that's within yourself or in your relationship.

You don't need to have everything figured out. The aim is simply to get a sense of each other and begin finding a direction together.
