About me and my therapy practice
If you've found your way here, you may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or as though you're carrying more than you can manage on your own. Perhaps life has become more difficult recently, or maybe experiences from the past are continuing to affect how you feel today.
Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to make sense of it alone.
How I Work
I believe therapy should feel like a safe, collaborative space rather than a process of being analysed or told what to do. Everyone experiences and processes the world differently. I offer a flexible, collaborative approach that respects each person's individuality.
Together we'll make sense of what's happening, helping you understand yourself with greater clarity, compassion and confidence while supporting meaningful, lasting change.
I work primarily online with adults across the UK, with a limited number of in-person appointments available in the Purbeck area of Dorset.
Over the years I've found that when therapy combines thoughtful emotional exploration with practical support, people often become more resilient, more grounded and more connected to themselves.
Therapeutic Approaches
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw from a range of evidence-informed approaches including Humanistic, Emotion-Focused, Compassion-Focused Therapy, CBT, ACT, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Transactional Analysis and interpersonal approaches.
Rather than following one model, I use these flexibly, selecting what is most likely to be helpful for you.
More than anything, I hope therapy offers a place where you feel safe enough to be yourself, make sense of your experiences, and feel genuinely heard and understood.
Practice description
My Therapeutic Style
More than any particular therapy model, I believe that meaningful change begins within a safe, compassionate therapeutic relationship. I draw on a range of evidence-informed approaches to support you in the way that feels most helpful for you.
Clients often tell me they value having space for both deep emotional exploration and practical strategies that help them move forwards. Together we work towards greater self-understanding, emotional resilience and lasting change.
Professional Background
My journey into this work began through lived experience, and I've been supporting people towards emotional wellbeing since 2012 across health and social care, community wellbeing services, the criminal justice system and private practice.
These experiences have deepened my understanding of how trauma, difficult relationships, life transitions and emotional overwhelm can affect us.
I don't believe therapy is about fixing what's broken. I believe it's about helping people reconnect with themselves, discover their strengths, and feel safe enough to move forwards at their own pace.
My first session
Choosing a therapist is a personal decision, and it's important that you feel comfortable with the person you choose.
I offer a free introductory telephone conversation where we can talk about what's bringing you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and explore whether we're the right match to work together.
If we decide to begin working together, our first session provides a gentle opportunity to understand what's been happening for you, discuss what you'd like to gain from therapy, and think together about the most helpful way forwards.
I look forward to meeting you.

Hello, I鈥檓 Melanie
If you鈥檙e considering therapy, I currently have space for new clients. You鈥檙e very welcome to book a free, no-obligation telephone consultation to explore whether I may be the right therapist for you, and to get a sense of whether we feel like a good match.
You can request this through the 麻豆原创 contact form or directly via my website: www.yourwellbeingmatters.co.uk.
If you鈥檝e found your way here, you might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply exhausted from holding everything together. Many of the people I work with reach out because life no longer feels manageable, or because earlier experiences are resurfacing and making things feel harder.
About me and my therapy practice
How I Work
My approach is gentle, grounded, and collaborative. I don鈥檛 believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Instead, I鈥檒l meet you where you are and help you make sense of what feels heavy, confusing, or difficult to manage alone.
I work primarily online with clients across the UK and abroad, with limited in-person sessions available in the Purbeck area of Dorset.
Over time, I鈥檝e noticed that when therapy combines deep emotional exploration with practical support, clients often become more resilient, more grounded, and more connected to themselves.
Therapeutic Approaches
As an Integrative therapist, I draw from a range of evidence-based and relational models, including:
鈥 Humanistic, Emotion-Focused & Compassion-Focused Therapy. For emotional processing, self-acceptance, and inner growth.
鈥 Mindfulness-Based & Cognitive Approaches. CBT, ACT, DBT, MBCT, and Motivational Interviewing 鈥 supporting day-to-day coping, emotional regulation, and behavioural change.
鈥 Interpersonal & Relational Approaches. Including IPT, EFIT, and Gottman tools 鈥 to strengthen communication, secure attachment, and relational awareness.
鈥 Trauma-Informed & Parts Work Approaches. EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) 鈥 for processing and integrating difficult or traumatic experiences within a safe, structured framework.
More than anything, therapy with me is about connection!
A place where you can be honest, human, and feel genuinely understood at a pace that feels right for you.
Practice description
My Therapeutic Style
I work intuitively and adaptively, drawing from both evidence-based models and humanistic values. Each session is tailored around your needs and what feels most supportive in the moment.
Clients often describe our work as 鈥渢he best of both worlds鈥: deep emotional work combined with practical tools for positive, sustainable change. My style is warm, steady, and gently restorative, particularly supportive for those navigating emotional overload, trauma, or major life transitions.
Professional Background
I鈥檝e been supporting people towards emotional wellbeing and meaningful change since 2012, across a range of roles within Health & Social Care, community wellbeing services, and the criminal justice system. These experiences have given me deep insight into the many ways people cope with distress, disconnection, or early life adversity.
My belief is that therapy isn鈥檛 about 鈥渇ixing what鈥檚 broken鈥. Instead, it鈥檚 about reconnecting with clarity, safety, and purpose... and building the internal resources needed for long-term growth and self-trust.
