About me and my therapy practice
Hello everyone, I'm Jamie, and I have a BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Counselling.

I would love to be part of your support system. Having someone next to you on your healing journey is so important - you are not alone and don't have to suffer in silence. I am passionate about providing a calm, gentle and patient relationship for all my clients.
My Approach

I deeply care about the well-being of everyone I work with. I have met people from all walks of life, everyone is welcome, and I want to hear your story. You deserve a space without judgment to be seen and heard.

I draw on several theories of change to help you get to where you want to be.
My priority is to develop our working relationship so you feel safe; we have all the time we need to build that foundational trust. Although we may be working with deep feelings, counselling can be a really fun and enlightening experience.
Inclusivity

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand what it's like to feel different from 'normal' and work with clients empathetically and non-judgmentally, believing that our differences are what make us all unique and beautiful.

My own life experiences have taught me the value of having a safe and secure therapy space to process traumatic life events and unmanageable feelings; it's a privilege for me to be able to help and support my clients.

Areas of Focus
I'm passionate about helping people heal from childhood traumas, increase self-confidence, and to strengthen the relationships you have with yourself and with others. I work well with people who aim to be kinder to themselves and are curious about healthier boundaries.

I'm dedicated and experienced in supporting individuals from marginalised populations and those affected by loss. Through the practice of self-compassion and self-nurturing, I aim to enhance self-worth and self-acceptance while also enabling others to experience less fear and anxiety about painful emotions.
Practice description
How does it work?

I offer a 15-minute introduction via Microsoft Teams, during which we can discuss what brings you to counselling, ask one another questions, and see if we're compatible, or If you feel confident about working with me, we could skip that bit and discuss availability.
My Therapeutic Style

As an integrated therapist, I believe that no single therapy strategy can benefit every client. Instead, I consider each client as a unique individual and their circumstances, using aspects of several approaches to support you in your exploration and problem-solving.

The person-centred approach is at the core of my work, offering empathy, understanding, and acceptance. I also integrate psychodynamic and transactional analysis theories into my practice by acknowledging the importance of the past and patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaviour in the present moment.

Therapeutic Support
As your therapist, I want to help you at every stage of the therapeutic process. Together, we will come up with solutions that work for you by providing you with compassion, empathy, honesty, and a non-judgmental attitude. I believe you are the expert in your life and that you deserve a space to find those answers.
