About me and my therapy practice

Hello everyone, I'm Jamie, and I have a BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Counselling.

I am passionate about providing a calm, gentle, and patient space for everyone I work with. Having someone alongside you on your healing journey is so important 鈥 you are not alone, and you don鈥檛 have to suffer in silence. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel seen, heard, and understood.

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand what it鈥檚 like to feel different or 鈥渙utside the norm.鈥 I work empathetically and non-judgmentally with clients from all walks of life, believing that our differences are what make us unique and beautiful. My life experiences have shown me the value of having a secure space to process difficult emotions, trauma, and overwhelming feelings. It鈥檚 a privilege to support clients as they explore, heal, and grow.

I am particularly passionate about helping people:

  • Heal from childhood trauma and abuse
  • Increase self-confidence and self-compassion
  • Strengthen the relationship with themselves and others
  • Explore healthier boundaries

I also support individuals from marginalised populations and those affected by loss. Through self-compassion and therapeutic support, I aim to enhance self-worth while helping clients feel less fear and anxiety around emotions.

My Approach

I work as an integrated therapist, drawing on multiple theories tailored to each client. The person-centred approach is at the heart of my work, emphasising empathy, understanding, and acceptance. I also integrate psychodynamic, transactional analysis, and compassion-focused approaches to explore how past experiences shape thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, supporting clients to respond to themselves with kindness.

Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is my priority. Counselling can involve exploring deep emotions, but it can also be enlightening and enjoyable. I aim to create a space where you feel safe to explore at your own pace.

Practice description

How does it work?

I offer a 15-minute introductory session via Microsoft Teams, where we can talk about what brings you to counselling, ask each other questions, and see if we feel like a good fit. This is a no-pressure opportunity to get a sense of how we might work together. If you feel ready to begin, we can skip this step and arrange your first full session immediately.

During our sessions, you are supported to explore your experiences, reflect on patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour, and develop strategies that feel right for you. Counselling is a collaborative process 鈥 you are the expert in your life, and I am here to provide guidance, clarity, and a safe, non-judgmental space where you can find your own answers. I aim to balance exploring difficult emotions with moments of insight, growth, and even lightness when appropriate, helping you feel supported and empowered throughout your journey.

Areas of Support

I have experience supporting clients with a wide range of challenges, including:

  • Trauma & Abuse: childhood trauma, inner child healing, emotional, physical, and domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse, affairs, dysfunctional family dynamics, bullying
  • Mental Health & Emotional Well-being: anxiety, stress, depression, grief, low mood, low self-esteem, shame, guilt, self-criticism
  • Identity & Relationships: LGBTQ+ counselling, men鈥檚 issues, relationship and family difficulties, discrimination and stigma
  • Addiction & Behaviour: addiction support, anger management, behavioural challenges, work-related stress
  • Personal Growth & Healing: building resilience, self-compassion, self-acceptance, boundaries, enhancing self-worth

Every client is unique, so our sessions are flexible and shaped around what matters most to you. I aim to provide a space where you feel safe, heard, and supported at every stage, helping you to make positive changes and feel more confident in yourself and your relationships.

My first session

First Session
