About me and my therapy practice
I qualified as an integral therapeutic counsellor, based on the work of Ken Wilber, an American theorist and writer on transpersonal psychology. In my master’s and PhD however, I specifically looked at the impact of stress, burnout and compassion fatigue, and how practices such as mindfulness and self-compassion may encourage wellbeing. I am experienced in working with psychodynamics, person centred, cognitive behavioural; as well as mindfulness-based and compassion approaches for behavioural patterns reactivity and emotional management. My practice is trauma-informed, involving a genuine and casual communication that is open and sensitive to client’s needs. I can work with a range of problems such as: stress and burnout, anxiety, trauma related disorders, depression, addictions and reactivity-based compulsions, low self-esteem, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, ADHD, fear and panic disorders. I am committed to supporting people from different areas and cultural backgrounds, drawing from working and engaging with a broad range of ethnicities, sexual/gender orientation and ages (18+), as well as personal experience – born in Brazil and living for over 30 years in the United Kingdom (UK).
I also offer Walk and Talk Therapy as a complementary part of the online services I offer (please ask more about this service if you are interested). Walk and Talk therapy can be benefitting from non-directive eye contact and focus on nature nourishment. I draw from my experience in different protocols: Mindfulness-Based Reactivity Prevention (promoting emotion regulation), Mindfulness for Health (relieving pain, reducing stress and restoring to wellbeing) and Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living (navigating through adaptive behavioural patterns through compassion) to support client's working on their direct experience through the contact of nature.
Practice description
I adopt a kind and direct approach using mindfulness based compassion living strategies (based on the work of Paul Gilbert), supporting clients understanding their behavioural patterns and working towards openness , sensitivity and clarity.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet each other and see if we can work together. I don not charge a different price for the first session or alter the duration of the session.Types of therapy
