About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred therapist, which means I base the work around what you feel is most relevant or important. I work hard to understand things from your perspective. I hope that through being listened to and understood my clients gain clarity and control in their own lives.
I am trained to work with both adults and young people and have extensive experience working in schools as both a teacher and therapist. I can work with young people from the age of thirteen and have a current DBS check.
I sometimes employ creative techniques in sessions, such as drawing, but always take the lead in what is useful from my clients.
I can work online, over the phone, or in-person. I am working towards offering walk-and-talk sessions in the local area.
Practice description
I offer Zoom, telephone and in-person sessions. I can provide a 15--minute telephone consultation free of charge before beginning work - as a way for you to decide if you feel you are able to work with me.
I base the work around goals set in the first session, though of course these can change as sessions go on. I aim to listen to my clients' sense of how the work is going. Wherever possible I try to adapt and change my style so I can offer the best to each client.
Sessions can be long-term or short-term depending on what you feel you need. I work with clients to decide on the length of our work together and will always work towards an ending when clients feel it is the right time.
Sessions are fifty minutes long and would be on a weekly basis. I am supervised monthly.
My first session
I offer a fifteen-minute free-of-charge telephone consultation before beginning work. First sessions involve contracting and goal setting, but otherwise are the same as other sessions. I am comfortable after a first session or consultation if you decide that I am not the right therapist for you.
