About me and my therapy practice

My name is Sarah Louise MÂ鶹ԭ´´ (Accred) MACC (Accred), (BA Hons, Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling). I am an experienced integrative counsellor with experience working with both individuals and therapy groups. My approach draws on psychodynamic and person-centred models, allowing me to tailor sessions to each person’s unique needs.

I offer a warm, welcoming, and accepting space where you can explore what is happening in your life, how you feel about yourself and others, and what you might want to change. Together, we can work through a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, stress, codependency, trauma, bereavement, and relationship difficulties.

I also have specialist experience in addiction, as well as in supporting family members affected by a loved one’s addiction. I understand how complex and painful this experience can be, and I provide a space where you can begin to find clarity, strength, and hope.

The quality of the therapeutic relationship I build with each client is central to my work — I believe it is one of the most important ingredients for personal growth and lasting change. My aim is to offer empathy, honesty, and understanding, helping you to feel seen, valued, and supported throughout your journey.

If you’d like to find out more or ask any questions about the way I work, I offer a free 15–20 minute consultation by phone or Zoom. This is an opportunity to see whether counselling feels right for you, with no obligation to continue.

I am a registered and accredited member of both the Â鶹ԭ´´ (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the ACC (Association of Christian Counsellors), and I adhere to their ethical frameworks to ensure safe and professional practice.

Practice description

I have experience working with clients, offering a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for counselling, whether online via Zoom or in my calm and welcoming therapy room.

My work is grounded in genuine empathy, compassion, and understanding. Having personally experienced the transformative power of therapy, I know how it can support us in moving from hopelessness to hope, from feeling stuck to discovering growth, self-confidence and the freedom to change. Counselling can help us reconnect with ourselves, deepen self-awareness and rediscover a sense of meaning, joy, and purpose in life.

I am deeply committed to the work I do and hold real hope in the healing potential of counselling. Every individual’s journey is unique, and it is a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they explore their experiences, develop insight, and move towards greater emotional wellbeing.

Taking the First Step

Reaching out for support can feel daunting and overwhelming. You may simply need a space where you feel heard and understood, or you may be ready to make meaningful changes but feel unsure where to begin.

Whatever brings you to counselling, taking that first step requires courage and that courage can be the beginning of positive change. I also recognise how important it is to find the right counsellor for you.

With this in mind, I invite you to explore my website to learn more about how counselling may support you and what you can expect from working together.

My first session

In our first Zoom or telephone call, I will take a few moments to introduce myself and invite you to share what has brought you to therapy. This is your opportunity to ask any questions and, if you wish, talk about what you hope to gain from counselling. I will also explain how I work and what you can expect from the process.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch by phone or email if you’d like to arrange this initial call. If I’m unavailable when you contact me, you’re welcome to leave a message, and I’ll aim to return your call within 24 hours.
