About me and my therapy practice

I became a therapist because I believe in the power of trauma recovery and personal growth. I work with adults who may be struggling with anxiety, PTSD, complex trauma (CPTSD), OCD, depression, or grief. I focus on the provision of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy, and I can offer sessions online and in-person at my private practice in Hampshire. I enjoy working collaboratively at a pace that suits you. I would love to meet you and see if we’re a good fit. Using EMDR alongside talking therapy, IFS, creative methods and somatic work, I support you to gently process distressing experiences that may still be interfering with your everyday life.

My approach is phase-based, trauma-informed and collaborative, ensuring safety to help you reduce symptoms such as hypervigilance, intrusive thoughts, emotional numbness, nightmares, or ongoing sadness, etc. I also have extensive experience working with neurodiverse populations, such as people who may have ASC or ADHD.

I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard and supported, and where meaningful change and healing can begin.

Practice description

I am an Art Psychotherapist, Integrative Psychotherapist, and EMDR Therapist, registered with the HCPC, Â鶹ԭ´´ and the EMDR Association UK. I have worked extensively at The Priory Hospital, NHS, and the voluntary sector.

My core training is in Jungian Analytical Art Psychotherapy, which allowed me to immerse myself in depth psychology and the psychodynamic approach. I later trained in different approaches such as the person-centred, CBT, IFS and EMDR.

My first session

During the first session, I aim to get to know you and what brought you to therapy. We will go through an assessment together that includes your brief history, coping skills, and goal-setting. Sometimes, this may take more than one session.

If you are seeking EMDR, before we move on to looking at trauma or adverse experiences history, we work on building resources to manage difficult emotions and understand trauma reactions. Then we work on your trauma history, keeping in mind that you won't need to go into the details of the incidents, so we can keep it safe and contained.

After we identify targets for reprocessing, we can start working on the memories using EMDR. Some sessions will be talking or consolidation sessions, where we may not use bilateral stimulation. You may also use the art materials to express your feelings in an alternative, creative way.

I work with your pace, not against a prescribed deadline. There are no set time limits on how long therapy may take. It is different for everyone.

I am also very happy to answer any questions you may have about the process and how EMDR may work for you. I am hoping to build a relationship with my clients where they can feel they are able to address any questions or concerns they may have during the course of their therapy.

Note: EMDR therapy uses bilateral stimulation, which also means if you don't get on with eye movements for whatever reason, be it visual impairment, migraines, or eye problems, there are alternative ways to access the adaptive information processing system, using, for example, tapping on the knees or a butterfly hug.
