About me and my therapy practice
I support women who have been holding everything together for far too long and are now finding it increasingly difficult to cope. Often feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and burnt out.
They have often spent years prioritising others’ needs above their own, engaging in people pleasing behaviours, and wearing a mask to hide their struggles from the world.
These coping strategies like distraction, avoidance, or suppressing emotions may offer temporary relief, but they do not address the underlying issues.
Whilst this may have helped them manage life in the past, over time, they can take a significant toll on emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
This can often leave women to feel invisible or unheard, and life stressors, constant juggling, unspoken emotional labour, and the hidden sacrifices can create a sense of being often being on edge.
Some women may also be navigating life with neurodiverse traits such as ADHD or autism, which can make everyday demands more exhausting and sometimes less understood by those around them.
Over time, all of this can lead to anxiety, depression, irritability, fatigue, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, stress, sleep difficulties, anger, isolation and loneliness, and physical tension or pain.
Practice description
My approach is person centred and collaborative, and I firmly believe that therapy is a space where you are fully heard and validated, without judgement or pressure
Common Issues I Support With
Feeling unable to cope anymore
Balancing family responsibilities and work
Loss, bereavement and anticipated grief (including the loss of pets)
Relationship separation and divorce
Caring for loved ones
Menopause
Childhood trauma
Parenting at all stages — early years, adolescence, and when children leave home
Being the Adult Child of an Alcoholic Parent (ACoA)
Living with ADHD or Autism (diagnosed or undiagnosed)
Domestic abuse (including experiences that may not yet feel recognised as abuse)
This is not a complete list. Life can throw many other challenges at us, and you are welcome to bring whatever feels important.
In sessions I help clients explore patterns of behaviour and emotional responses that may have developed over years.
This can include examining why we feel compelled to please others, why it is difficult to set boundaries, and how past experiences may influence current reactions.
Understanding these patterns can help clients regain control, make conscious choices about how they respond to stress, and gradually develop a stronger sense of self-worth and
Processing these emotions in a supportive environment allows clients to release what has been held inside and find ways to integrate these experiences into their lives without being overwhelmed by them.
In addition to addressing life events and emotional patterns, therapy can help with practical coping strategies. These may include managing stress, reducing anxiety, enhancing self-esteem, and building confidence in decision-making.
For women juggling multiple roles and responsibilities, these tools can provide relief and create space for self-care and reflection. Over time, these strategies support not only immediate relief but also long-term resilience and empowerment.
My first session
I understand reaching out for support can feel daunting, especially if you haven't had counselling before, or are not use to asking for help. This is completely understandable,
And if you are ready to take the first step, I invite you to reach out, and have an initial online, or phone chat. This is an opportunity to see how we can work together, and for you to ask any questions you may have, and I can find out a little bit about you.
If we do work together it will be at a pace that suits you, exploring your experiences, processing emotions, and building strategies that will be practical and useful.
We will move at your pace, and safety comes first.
Face to face sessions are held in my peaceful garden room in Bushey, Hertfordshire a calm, private space where you can exhale. I also work online with women across the UK.
I am passionate about my work, and I love what I do. I am not a silent, distant therapist, I am human, warm, engaged and real.
I bring lived experience as well as professional training. I understand how easy it is to minimise your own pain, and I understand the pressure to keep going.
You should not have to struggle in silence.
