About me and my therapy practice
*** Always Thinking Counselling offering face-to-face sessions in Enfield Town***
Always Thinking counselling offers in-person, private counselling, in Enfield, in North London.
I have an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Working in well appointed therapy rooms in Enfield Town, I build trusting cooperation with my clients so that we can both learn from the work we do together.
If we are able to reflect back over our experiences of childhood, of our families and of life, counselling can begin a powerful process of change and adjustment. It is this self knowledge that can free us from the patterns of behaviours that we otherwise feel destined to keep repeating.
Each session is 50 minutes long, and we will discuss the time that we can meet together, each week.
It is the first step that is hardest to take, so Always Thinking counselling offers the first session without charge, to help you get over this hurdle.
While I mainly work in-person, I can also offer on-line sessions. Please get in contact for further details.
Experience
* I have spent the last ten years working with agencies, charities and privately in North London and Hertfordshire.
* I work with adults and with teenagers from 13 years of age and have built long, open ended relationships with my clients.
* I worked for a bereavement counselling service through the Pandemic, so have experience of deep and sudden loss.
This work has helped me to develop an understanding of depression and feelings of worthlessness and how counselling can help to alleviate these feelings. And having worked with teenagers, I think we all have very intense feelings and challenges.
Practice description
As a psychodynamic counsellor I have the greatest curiosity about you, your family and your early experiences, as these experiences make us who we are. Counselling represents a second chance, to examine these experiences and to do some re-evaluation. The defences we build up from our infancy may not serve us well as adults and young people. We may want to adjust some of these early defences so that we can manage better, in the world. Counselling offers a safe place to do this, and to go at a pace that suits you, the client.
We all need a container and a non judgement space, to safely explore our difficulties. We all experience anxiety, depression, loss and disappointment, at different times in our lives. Clients often arrive exhausted by their attempts to try and avoid very difficult feelings. Therapy offers a unique space to allow those feelings to unfold, without being engulfed or overwhelmed.
The repetition of a weekly session provides the safety to repeat this process until you can build up the confidence to manage these feelings yourself.
The initial session is non chargeable at Always Thinking counselling to help you to take the first difficult step. As this space is for you the client, we will start to identify the main themes that you wish to work on. I believe, as a psychodynamic counsellor, my approach can bring us to an understanding of ourselves and the unconscious processes that drive us.
My areas of work include anxiety and depression, low confidence and low self esteem.
As an experienced bereavement counsellor, and having worked with teenagers, I can work with clients who have experienced loss, trauma, abuse and family break down. I have a particular interest in those living with long term health conditions.
The first step is to reach out and make contact. It can be hard to know where to begin, so we treat the first session as the start of a relationship of thinking and working together.
Do get in touch for more information.
My first session
The initial session together is non chargeable so that we can explore what brings you to counselling now. Please make contact and we can make arrangements. You can then decide if you are happy to carry on. The number of sessions is for you to decide. I do make long-term relationships with my clients and it is always worth working towards a planned ending to counselling.
