Sessions from £80.00

Features

  • Flexible hours available

Availability

I am available throughout the week including evenings and some weekends for both face-to-face and online sessions. Face-to-face sessions are held in my private room at Manchester Royal Exchange, a secure building in the city centre. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can discuss your needs and you can get a feel for how I work.

About me and my therapy practice

I integrate ancient contemplative wisdom with modern psychological science to help clients create deep, lasting change. With years of training as a Buddhist monk and an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health from King's College London, I bring both rigorous evidence-based practice and profound embodied understanding to therapeutic work.

As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw upon Person-Centred therapy, CBT, ACT, and Transactional Analysis, tailoring each session to your particular needs and experience. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, relational difficulties, existential concerns, sleep disturbances, and performance enhancement.

My approach emphasises one-pointed presence and non-judgemental awareness—the foundations of effective therapy. This synthesis of contemplative practice with neuroscience allows me to work holistically with both mind and body, addressing thought patterns, emotional regulation, and embodied experience. I've worked extensively with clients facing anxiety, depression, cancer diagnoses, and major life transitions.

I'm also a trained relationship therapist and offer walk-and-talk therapy for clients who find movement and being in nature supportive of their therapeutic process.

Practice description

Many of us experience emotional challenges that highlight aspects of our mental health we'd like to address—depression, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, or feelings of sadness without clear cause or knowing how to find relief.

I offer a safe, nurturing, non-judgemental space for your growth and transformation. My background uniquely positions me to help: decades of contemplative training including years as a Buddhist monk studying meditation and mindfulness, combined with an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health from King's College London. I am currently pursuing a PhD in psychology and the therapeutic process.

This integration of Eastern contemplative wisdom with Western psychological science allows me to work with you at multiple levels—not just cognitively, but somatically and experientially. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or searching for deeper meaning and purpose, I bring both scientific understanding and contemplative depth to support your journey.

Diverse life experiences inform my practice: backgrounds in design, teaching, and education from a developmental psychological perspective, along with decades of traditional Japanese martial arts practice. I understand transformation from the inside—both intellectually and experientially.

My first session

The first session begins with understanding what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. I'll ask about your current difficulties, relevant history, and what you've already tried. This helps me understand your unique situation and tailor our approach to your needs.

I'll also explain how therapy works, answer any questions you have, and discuss practicalities like frequency of sessions and confidentiality. This is also your opportunity to get a sense of whether we're a good fit—the therapeutic relationship is fundamental to effective work.

Many clients find it helpful to know that I integrate evidence-based psychological approaches with contemplative practices. This means we might work with thought patterns and behaviours (CBT/ACT), explore relational patterns (Person-Centred/TA), and develop embodied awareness through mindfulness and somatic techniques.

I offer one-pointed focus and genuine presence throughout our work together. By the end of the first session, you should have clarity about how we might work together and whether this approach feels right for you.

I also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation before booking if you'd like to discuss anything first.

Practice description

Online therapy. Mental health issues are hard to find relief from, finding ourselves going around in circles and losing touch with our previous lifestyle, wondering 'how did I get here? I offer you a safe, nurturing, non-judgemental environment towards your growth. I work as an Integrative therapist so that your sessions are tailored to your needs and particular experience. I predominantly draw upon Person Centred Counselling, CBT and Transactional Analysis to address issues such as: anxiety; social anxiety; trauma; depression/lack of motivation; disturbed sleep; increasing performance/productivity, relationships/social interaction; existential angst/lack of meaning

In recent times so many of us have gone through experiences that have brought emotional challenges and may have highlighted to us that there are some aspects of our mental health that we would like to work on. You may have found yourself experiencing depression, generalised anxiety, increased social anxiety or feeling sad without fully understanding why or not knowing how to find relief.

As part of my ongoing professional development, I am currently studying an Msc in Neuroscience and am an advocate of incorporating scientific research on causes of wellbeing, fundamentals like sleep, nutrition and activity and how they effect experiences such as depression and anxiety. As an Integrative therapist, I will seek out the most appropriate strategies, from a number of different therapies so that your sessions are tailored to your needs . I predominantly draw upon Person Centred Counselling theory, CBT, ACT and Transactional Analysis to address issues such as; anxiety; abuse; trauma; depression/lack of motivation; disturbed sleep; increasing performance/productivity, relationships/social interaction; existential angst/lack of meaning.

I am an accredited (via The Association for Psychological Therapies (APT)) Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapist. ACT has been shown in a number of RCT trials to be effective (equal to CBT) in the treatment of anxiety, depression and addiction. Many organisations have stated that ACT is empirically supported according to their standards including the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.

I have received training and utilise the Grayrock method for managing insomnia

I am a trained relationship therapist (via The Grove Practice: Centre of excellence for psychotherapy) which can be applied to business, friendships and marriage/long term partnerships

I offer the willingness and capability to remain with you, one-pointed focus and a non-judgemental position, the pillars of effective therapy. There is also no expectation for you to give a polished, linear presentation of your experience. If you find yourself going off on many tangents, it still contributes to my ability to get a full picture of what you are experiencing. In short, your first session (at least) is there for you to express freely what's going on for you
