About me and my therapy practice

I am a discreet, empathetic and compassionate clinician and consultant who brings a combination of academic and clinical experience of working with clients across the lifespan.  I adopt an integrated approach, meeting clients where they are with holistic, trauma-informed and evidence-based practice. I work as a fellow traveler, facilitating a journey of self-discovery.

Education & Clinical Experience

I have worked in residential, outpatient, harm reduction, abstinence, 12 step, non 12 step, school counseling with children, private practice, child and family services in addition to varied clinical cultures and approaches across the UK and US. I have concurrently specialized in prevention for over 7 years. Having lived internationally, I am able to adapt to my clients’ outlook and to be considerate of cultural contexts, bias and influences.

Research, Advocacy & Education

In addition to our work, I am actively engaged in research, advocacy, and counselor education, teaching counselors at master's level and serving on the Editorial Board for the American Counseling Association for Practice Briefs as a Subject Matter Expert.

Recovery Approach

In terms of addiction recovery clients, whether you are abstinent or are simply questioning your relationship to alcohol and want to explore reducing your intake, my predominant goal is to help you achieve your goals - not mine, and to help reduce pain and shame in the individual and/or family system so that you can unlock your potential.

My Approach

Therapy should be tailored to your specific needs. Whether you’re facing personal struggles, relationship challenges, or deep-rooted family dynamics, I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where healing is possible.

Practice description

High Achieving Families & Entrepreneurs- I have experience supporting individuals and families across the spectrum of wealth and the different challenges that may bring.

Mentoring Trainee Therapists - I feel passionate about helping the next generation of counselors and know how rigorous and demanding training can be. If you are currently going through the journey of becoming a counselor and need additional support or personal therapy I would love to support you.

What to Expect in Therapy

Sessions are collaborative, insightful, and grounded in proven techniques to help you move forward that are research-based. Whether through individual therapy, family psycho-education, leadership coaching, or deeper emotional exploration, I aim to make therapy meaningful, accessible, and effective, that empowers you with further knowledge and education.

My first session

Firstly the initial call will be a 'get to know you' up to 30 min consult to see if my services are a good fit. This session will be free of charge.

If we agree to work together: contracting and guidelines - payment, times, rules of engagement, expectations and keep us both safe.

The first session is an assessment, which is 1hr 30mins long and would require renumeration for the additional time (hourly rate + half an hour).

The second session is a treatment planning session whereby we will discuss the treatment plan (1hr)

Following that we would meet for an hour each week (or at an otherwise agreed arrangement for us both) from there.

I engage in Feedback Informed Treatment (check-ins and assessment scales) to ensure treatment optimization.

Service Offerings:

Coaching or Therapy: I offer both—during our initial conversation, I will assess which approach would be the best fit for your needs.

Family or Individual: Based on an initial assessment, we will determine the best modality for your situation. If working with multiple family members, we will establish clear roles and expectations upfront to ensure ethical boundaries and a structured therapeutic approach.

Whether you are calling about yourself or your loved one, we will start with a discovery call to ascertain your needs, how I can help and what the best route might look like.

Referrals

If at any point I believe you would benefit from a different service or a higher level of care, I will guide you through the process ethically and transparently, helping you take the next step toward the best possible support.
