About me and my therapy practice
I'm a psychodynamic psychotherapist which means my work with people usually focuses on past events to understand what is happening in the present.
By exploring this, we'll be able to gain insight into your life, in order that you can understand yourself better.
Usually, this type of therapy would be open-ended which means, by definition, that there is no fixed end date, although we will regularly reflect on the work, with a view to working towards an end point.
I usually work with people on a long-term basis, but I also offer short-term therapy.
I work with adult men and women of all ages, and I do have a particular interest in working with people who find it difficult to talk about their feelings, especially men.
Practice description
I have two consulting rooms, one in North West London (Queen's Park) and one in Central London (Victoria), and I also offer online sessions.
Both of my practices are within very easy reach of public transport, with the central London consulting room, less than a five-minute walk from Victoria station, while the Queen's Park practice is less than ten minutes from a station served by the Bakerloo line, and London Overground's Lioness line.
In both practices, I work in rooms that are comfortable, quiet, safe spaces where we can talk without disturbances.
My first session
Choosing to get help is often the most difficult part of anyone's journey, which is why I try to make the first stage of the process as straightforward as possible.
I always offer an initial consultation, which consists of two 50-minute sessions where we will meet to discuss why you have decided to begin therapy, and also for you to get a feel of what therapy with me is like.
One of the most important parts of therapy is to make sure there is a good rapport between a therapist and a client which is why these two sessions give us both a chance to see if we're a good fit.
After the initial consultation, we will agree together on the best course of action. If we agree to continue working together, you will receive a contract which outlines my commitment to you, and your commitment to the therapy.
