About me and my therapy practice

The purpose of counselling isn't to control external events or people, but to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and develop control over our responses to life's challenges. Through therapy, you'll not only process your emotions, but also cultivate self-acceptance and compassion. That's the transformative approach I aim to bring to our work together.

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor. I offer a safe, non-judgemental, and empathic space where you can explore any difficulties and challenges you are experiencing. My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I am an integrative counsellor -, that simply means I tailor my approach to the needs of my clients by using more than one theory and technique.

My personal and professional experiences have enriched my understanding of diverse cultural, religious, and linguistic backgrounds, allowing me to connect with clients who navigate multiple identities. I understand how it feels to be different from the mainstream culture and speak a different first language; it can feel alienating and lonely being on the periphery. I am able to empathise strongly with those who are similar.

Practice description

I offer therapy for a range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, difficult family relationships- specially mother- daughter relationship, bereavement, low confidence and identity issues.

I support clients in uncovering and challenging self-limiting patterns, such as –

- feelings of inadequacy (not good enough),

- comparison

- Lack of inter- personal boundaries

- Feelings of shame and guilt

- Lack of emotional maturity,

- self-sabotage, and

- harsh self-criticism.

Together, we develop emotional regulation skills, fostering self-awareness, acceptance, and compassion, empowering you to break free from cycles that no longer serve you.

My first session

I put my clients at the centre of the process from the very beginning. I encourage you to take an informed decision, so before you commit for a long/short term therapy I offer a free initial assessment session. It can be on the phone or online. This can help both of us to have a better understanding of each other. Once you speak to me personally, this will help you to decide whether I am the right therapist for you and help me to understand your needs and negotiate a bespoke package which can either be time limited and or open ended. There is no obligation to work with me after that the initial assessment. Please feel free to get in touch.
