About me and my therapy practice
Feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just鈥 not yourself?
You don鈥檛 need to have all the answers to begin therapy. Sometimes the first step is simply being heard 鈥 and that鈥檚 where we begin.
I鈥檓 Miriam. I believe at the heart of therapy is a safe, trusting relationship. When you feel secure and accepted, it becomes easier to open up and understand what you鈥檙e going through.
That鈥檚 what I aim to offer 鈥 a space where you don鈥檛 have to pretend. Where you can just be yourself and go at your own pace.
I work through the lens of trauma and attachment, helping you develop a sense of safety, security, and trust 鈥 the foundation for healing and change.
Trauma doesn鈥檛 always look how you鈥檇 expect. It can show up as:
馃尓锔 Feeling constantly on edge
馃 Numbness or disconnection 鈥 from others or from yourself
馃槾 Poor sleep, body tension or mystery aches
馃毆 Avoiding places, people, or memories
馃寑 Coping through substances, self-harm, or patterns that feel hard to stop
馃幆 Overachievement, perfectionism, or struggling to switch off
馃 Difficulty trusting, or working hard to stay invisible
And often underneath it all 鈥
馃挱 A sense of shame, low self-worth, or the feeling that something鈥檚 just鈥 off.
These are the kinds of things I work with.
And if you鈥檙e feeling distressed but can鈥檛 point to a clear reason? That matters too.
You don鈥檛 need to explain your pain for it to be valid.

Therapy with me is never one-size-fits-all. Depending on what you need, our work might include:

Practice description
My approach is integrative and trauma-focused. I'm trained in:
馃 Humanistic integrative counselling
馃尶 IFS (Internal Family Systems)
馃З DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy)
I also draw inspiration from:
馃寑 Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Somatic Experiencing
馃挮 Attachment-based therapy, EMDR, and group therapy approaches
My work is shaped by the insights of trauma experts like Bessel van der Kolk, Deb Dana, Pat Ogden, Janina Fisher, Stephen Porges, and Richard Schwartz. While I don鈥檛 always use these models explicitly, they鈥檙e deeply woven into how I think and how I work.
I鈥檒l also bring in behavioural strategies when you're aiming for specific goals 鈥 whether that鈥檚 sleep, habits, relationships, or boundaries. In short, I鈥檒l draw from what鈥檚 helpful, when it鈥檚 helpful.
Many of my clients have been through a lot, and I know that talking about yourself isn鈥檛 always easy.
Some people struggle to find the words. Others don鈥檛 even know where to begin.
I鈥檒l meet you where you are 鈥 whether that means:

馃尡 Or offering gentle encouragement when you're feeling unsure

I work primarily with the Orthodox Jewish community, and most of my clients are young adults aged 18鈥30 鈥 but all are welcome.
My first session
First sessions with me are super flexible and will depend on what you are after. If you are comfortable, we will chat about what brings you into therapy. I will also give you the opportunity to ask me questions about my practice, how I work, and to determine if I'm the right fit for you.
Beyond that, my goal is to develop and maintain positive rapport between us.
