About me and my therapy practice
Feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or not quite yourself?
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Often we begin by simply paying attention to what’s here: in your thoughts, your emotions, and in your body.
I’m Miriam. I’m an integrative trauma therapist, working in an attachment-focused and nervous-system-informed way.
I specialise in helping people process and release the effects of trauma, including early attachment wounds, chronic stress, and relational trauma, with a strong emphasis on the body and nervous system.
Stress and trauma don’t always look dramatic. They often show up as:
- feeling on edge much of the time
- numbness or disconnection
- poor sleep, body tension, or ongoing aches
- avoiding certain places, people, or memories
- patterns that feel hard to stop
- perfectionism or difficulty switching off
- finding it hard to trust or to let yourself be seen
Often underneath this is shame, harsh self-criticism, or a sense that something isn’t quite right.
This is the kind of work I do.
Therapy with me is collaborative and responsive. Depending on what’s needed, our work might include learning ways to regulate and ground yourself, paying attention to what your body is holding, understanding patterns, working creatively with parts or imagery, or exploring how earlier experiences still shape the present.
Many people I work with have spent years holding everything together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed inside. Therapy can be a place where you don’t have to hold it all alone.
Practice description
A lot of my work is shaped by understanding how stress, trauma, and relationships shape how we feel, respond, and cope.
My work integrates specialist trauma approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic and body-based therapies, and attachment-focused work. These approaches help process and release trauma held in the nervous system.
I am also trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which I draw on when emotional intensity, risk, or dysregulation are high, offering practical tools alongside deeper trauma work.
Many of the people I work with have been through a lot, and sharing isn’t always easy. Some find it hard to put things into words. Others aren’t sure where to begin.
We can work in whatever way helps you engage, using creative approaches, allowing space for quiet, or moving gently into things at a pace that feels manageable.
Therapy doesn’t have to start with clarity. It can start simply with showing up.
I work primarily with young adults and women in the Orthodox Jewish community, although all are welcome.
My first session
First sessions with me are super flexible and will depend on what you are after. If you are comfortable, we will chat about what brings you into therapy. I will also give you the opportunity to ask me questions about my practice, how I work, and to determine if I'm the right fit for you.
Beyond that, my goal is to develop and maintain positive rapport between us and see that you're satisfied with how things are going.
