Please contact me for current availability.
About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced psychodynamic counsellor based in St Albans. I work with adults of all ages, offering weekly or twice weekly counselling sessions.
Therapy can involve exploring some difficult and painful experiences but ultimately the therapeutic relationship is about real human connection, where understanding, warmth and curiosity are at the heart of the work.
I will aim to help you understand yourself more clearly, explore patterns that feel stuck and think about what in your life is feeling unhelpful or is holding you back from living the way you want. We will look at how your past may be influencing your present in terms of your thinking, behaviour, emotions and how you relate to yourself and others. Often this can be hard to see on your own.
Rather than providing quick fixes or prescriptive solutions I will take the time to understand you and your experiences, supporting you in making sense of them and the changes you want to make. Although I will encourage you to talk and reflect on many parts of your life, you do not have to talk about anything you do not wish to and we will always work at your pace.
Alongside my private practice I have worked for the past four years as a Clinical Manager at The Counselling Foundation supporting students with their clinical development and practice.
I am a Â鶹Դ´ registered counsellor and work within the Â鶹Դ´'s Code of Ethics. My work is supervised in accordance with professional requirements.
Practice description
I have nearly a decade of experience working as a psychodynamic counsellor.
I have particular experience and interest in supporting people who want to understand themselves more deeply, including exploring difficulties around relationships, repeating patterns, anxiety, self-esteem, loss, identity and belonging.
I also have experience and an interest in working with people navigating conflict between their sense of identity and the cultural or religious expectations they grew up with.
I have experience supporting clients with ADHD and/or autism, as well as people who are exploring questions around neurodiversity or who are going through the process of assessment.
I often work with clients in an open ended way which means the number of sessions isn't fixed. I am also trained to provide short term therapy and am happy to work in this way. We can discuss together what would be the most helpful for you.
Qualifications: BSc (Hons) Psychology, Certificate, Diploma & Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, Foundation Certificate in Analytical Psychology - Association of Jungian Analysts
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other and for you to talk about what has brought you to therapy. There is no expectation from me that you share anything you are not ready to talk about.
