About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am Elizabeth, a counsellor seeing clients for walk and talk therapy in Morden.

Life can feel painful and difficult at times. Navigating relationships, making life decisions, dealing with the unexpected, managing life events and encountering loss may leave you feeling unhappy, anxious and alone. By deciding to start counselling you are taking the first step towards exploring what may be preventing you from living a more fulfilling life.

I know that starting counselling can feel daunting, I offer a safe, private and non-judgemental space to hear your experience. I am warm and approachable and exploring your story from a place of emotional safety will be the main focus of our sessions.

I also offer:

- Perinatal Counselling (meaning counselling related to pregnancy, birth and postpartum).

Becoming a Mum comes with joy and excitement but can also leave you feeling lonely, sad and anxious. You may feel like you're not 'doing it right', or judged by others, you may feel like you should feel differently about your baby or feel preoccupied trying to fit an ideal of motherhood. You may miss the 'old you' and your old life, and uncertain how to navigate the new one you've found yourself in. You may be pregnant and worried about how you will feel once you've had your baby. Most of all you may feel it impossible to say these things out loud as society expects you to love every minute.

- Counselling related to fertility issues and pregnancy loss.

A space to talk about grief, anger, guilt, jealousy and any other feelings that often don't feel permissible.

Practice description

I am an integrative counsellor, meaning I work with a range of therapeutic techniques depending on the needs of the client. I believe that counselling is a collaborative process, that the relationship between counsellor and client is important and we will work at the pace that suits you and with the goals that you bring. Working with you I can help you give voice to the thoughts and feelings you have and together we can look at what is troubling you. We can also look into the past to understand how it's affecting you now and look at how life events have impacted you. I work to support you in building your awareness and deepen your understanding of yourself, to help you work through what is troubling you and enable you to see new perspectives.

I offer walk and talk therapy in Morden. This means instead of sitting in the therapy room for 50 minutes we will walk and talk in the local park. Walking and talking can suit people who may not feel so comfortable sitting for a long time and can feel like a lot less pressure than being in the room with one other person. Not all sessions need be outdoors, I'll suggest that our first session will be online in order to talk about and agree how we'll meet outside and we can decide how we might mix outdoor sessions with online sessions in a way that works for you.

I offer weekly 50 minute sessions with regular reviews to check in how counselling is working for you. When you make contact we can have a 15 minute call where you can ask any questions before deciding whether you'd like to set up an initial session where we can see if we want to work together.
