A bit about me and my practice:

With a background in mental health and social work, I provide person-centred therapy enriched by mindfulness techniques that create real results. Based in Ayrshire, I work with clients worldwide through online sessions, phone, text, or in-person meetings.

My person-centred approach places you and your unique experiences at the heart of therapy. Rather than imposing techniques or diagnoses, I create a supportive space and will help you deepen your self-understanding and shift perspectives so that you can move forward. This core philosophy is enhanced by simple, practical and effective mindfulness tools that you can immediately apply in your everyday life. No flowery language or scented candles鈥攋ust relatable, honest support focused on what works for you.

As one client shared: "The only therapy that's worked for me." (A, Scotland)

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified supervisor having completed a 6 month 麻豆原创 accredited course to learn about the role of supervision as a supervisor.

I have a busy private practice working with insurance organisations, EAPs and private clients. I am developing links with local and UK 麻豆原创 accredited institutions as I develop my supervisor practice.

am a person centred therapist skilled in the use of mindfulness and Buddhist psychology within my practice.  I am also interested in existential therapy and bring this into my therapy work and with supervision clients.

work both face to face and online.  This work is mainly UK based but also international in nature.  As a male therapist I have developed a workload that is accidentally weighted toward men and so have developed an awereness of how therapy for men can have special characteristics and challenges.  I have also worked in social work for 25 years and have found myself attuned to providing support and empathy for those in public sector roles.  I am very much aware of how supervision in the public sector is more akin to case management and lacks a sense of the impact such work has emotionally on those in professions such as teaching, nursing or social work.   Both as a supervisor and therapist I aspire to provide an empathetic and caring space where the impact of this work can be acknowledged and discussed.

I work with students at a discounted rate and am happy to discuss this with you before meeting with either the institution you are studying with or your manager while on placement.

If you would like to chat to see if I am the right supervisor for you feel free to contact me - no obligations after a chat.

Practice description

I live in Ayrshire in Scotland and work as both a therapist and supervisor from a room in my house.  This room is upstairs but I can work downstairs too.  The house has handrails to help those with some physical limitations up the stairs and in the drive too.

I also work extensively online too both in terms of therapy and supervision.

I believe in my work I provide an informal put very practical form of supervision.  I offer a lot of myself in terms of my work experiences & my experience of mental health work, therapeutic practice & my lived experiences. I am able I believe to offer a supervision experience based on practical advice, personal experience, a theoretical framework and perhaps most importantly to me a non-judgemental approach.

If you are seeking a supervisor who is relatable, supportive and empathetic I might be the right person for you.

My first session

Our first session would inevitably be led by a need to get to know each other.  I would want to know what you thought you needed from supervision primarily and how you learn best if you鈥檙e a student therapist.

Of course space would be created for any urgent issues that required to be addressed but it takes time to develop a working relationship and I would want to allow opportunity and time for that relationship to grow.
