About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor registered with the Â鶹ԭ´´.  I have a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (Distinction) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology.

I am trained in several different types of therapeutic approach (including humanistic psychotherapy, CBT and a psychodynamic approach) so, together, we can work out what will suit you best. I have worked with a wide variety of people from all walks of life, and with many different reasons for coming to therapy. I have experience working for the NHS and work online or in person in London.

It is important to me that you feel comfortable to talk about your problems, experiences and personal thoughts. While you will have some immediate pressing issues that bring you to therapy, there may also be some longer-term, underlying issues concerning you. My approach tends to be active and engaged and my aim is to help you achieve insight into what makes you tick. We will work collaboratively to develop strategies that assist you in living a complete, fulfilling life.

Previously, I was a barrister specialising in criminal and public law for 10 years.

Practice description

I offer a warm, active and collaborative way of working. We start by clarifying what feels difficult right now, how it is affecting you and what you have been doing to cope. We also hold in mind any longer standing patterns or earlier experiences that may be shaping things in the present.

I work integratively, drawing on humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural ideas. This means I can adapt the work to you, rather than trying to fit you into a single model. Some people want space to explore and understand themselves more deeply. Others want a more focused approach to a specific difficulty. We can decide together what feels most useful, and keep this under review.

Therapy can help you make sense of your inner world, recognise patterns, process painful experiences including trauma, and consider change at a manageable pace. I also offer CBT-I for insomnia.

Sessions are confidential and take place in SE1 in person, or online.

My first session

I offer an initial 15 minute video call at no charge for us to decide if we might work well together and for you to ask any practical questions.

If we go ahead, the first two sessions are an assessment. We’ll look at what’s bringing you to therapy, a little of your background, what you’ve tried so far and what you’re hoping for. I’ll also ask about any current risks or safeguarding concerns where relevant.

At the end of the assessment we’ll agree the focus of the work, whether you’d like short term or longer term therapy, session frequency and fees, and we’ll look for a mutually convenient regular slot for us to meet.

Practice description

I am an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor registered with the Â鶹ԭ´´. I hold a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton and qualified in CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia) at the University of Oxford. I have worked in the NHS and in private practice, with clients from many different backgrounds and with a wide range of reasons for coming to therapy.

I offer both long term therapy and short term focused work. People come to see me for anxiety, low mood, stress, grief, relationship difficulties, burnout, trauma, perfectionism and self criticism, as well as a more general sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed.

My approach is engaged and thoughtful. I aim to help you feel safe enough to speak openly, while also supporting insight into what is happening for you and why. We will pay attention to thoughts, feelings, relationships and the ways your past may still be present in your life now, alongside practical strategies where these are helpful.

Before training as a psychotherapist, I practised as a barrister for ten years. I have a particular interest in working with lawyers and others in high pressure roles.

I offer sessions in person near Stroud and online.
