About me and my therapy practice
I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I often work with people around self-esteem, anxiety, depression, work, childhood and family relationships, relationship issues, questions of identity, meaning and purpose, parenting, neurodivergence, health conditions, life transitions and spirituality.
I offer in-person sessions in Walthamstow, North East London as well as online counselling, using Zoom for sessions.
I draw on different therapeutic approaches in my work, including transpersonal, psychodynamic and humanistic. An integrative approach allows our work to be flexible and responsive to you as an individual, integrating mind, body, emotions and spirit into the healing process.
I view difficulties not only as challenges to be overcome but as potential gateways to meaning, wisdom, and self-acceptance. Our work together will often involve exploring early relationships, internalised beliefs and the parts of your that learned to survive in ways that made sense at the time, but may not be serving you as well now.
Practice description
Our work together may involve talking, reflection, creative exploration, and embodied awareness. We might focus on how you experience yourself in relationships, or how patterns from the past influence the present.
Sometimes we may work with dreams and images, to access more creative and intuitive forms of knowing and meaning.
In therapy with me, you can expect curiosity, presence and engagement. I aim to support authenticity and emotional honesty by bringing these qualities into the therapeutic space myself.
I work with an intersectional awareness of power, oppression and social context, and how these forces impact our emotional life, identity, relationships and distress.
I'm experienced in providing therapy to people exploring issues around sexuality, gender identity and relationship diversity. This includes people who are lesbian, gay, bi, pan, queer, asexual and questioning, genders including trans, non-binary and genderqueer people, and people who identify as, or are exploring, kinky, polyamorous and open relating, as well as those in monogamous relationships.
I worked for three years as a volunteer counsellor at the East London Out Project (ELOP), a charity which provides low-cost counselling to LGBTQ+ people.
My first session
The relationship between a counsellor and client is the key to successful therapy. I offer a free 20-minute phone call to help you see if you’d like to work with me.
The first session is an initial consultation where we discuss your goals for therapy and what issues you would like to address, and it will help you get a feel for how I work. This will help you see if you would like to continue working with me and I'll assess if I’m the right therapist for you.
If we decide to work together, we would usually arrange to meet weekly at a regular time for a 50-minute session. I offer short and long-term counselling. We may decide to start with a fixed number of sessions to start with, and then review how it’s going.
