Hello, I’m Mikko Hung, an accredited counsellor and qualified social worker based in the UK. I am a Hongkonger and offer therapy in Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties or a significant life transition. Cultural adjustment, identity shifts and family changes can feel overwhelming, particularly when navigating life between different cultures.
I hold a Master of Social Science in Counselling and an MSc in Social Work. I have worked with individuals, couples, families, children and young people from diverse backgrounds. My experience includes supporting single parents, ethnic minority communities and people living with HIV. In recent years, I have worked extensively with Hong Kong BN(O) migrants in the UK, helping clients manage cultural adjustment, intergenerational conflict, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety and the emotional impact of migration.
I offer a respectful, confidential and non-judgemental space where we can explore your experiences at your pace. Therapy provides an opportunity to regain balance, strengthen relationships, build resilience and move towards meaningful change.
Practice description
As an integrative therapist with a person-centred foundation, I draw on skills and techniques from a range of therapeutic approaches, tailoring them to meet each client’s unique needs. I aim to create a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can feel truly heard, understood, and supported in exploring what matters most to you.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and flexible, whether you are looking for short-term therapy to address specific challenges or longer-term support for deeper personal growth. I offer sessions in English and Cantonese, and I am committed to working with people of all ages, genders, backgrounds, and sexual orientations.
I strive to provide therapy that is responsive, empathetic, and practical, helping you develop insight, resilience, and strategies to cope with life’s difficulties, while supporting you to reconnect with your strengths and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation online (via Google Meet, Teams, Zoom or phone), giving you the chance to find out more about how therapy works and how I may be able to support you.
The relationship between us is at the heart of successful therapy, so it is important that you feel comfortable and that we both feel we can work together. During this first session, you are welcome to ask any questions, share a little about what brings you to therapy, and get a sense of my approach.
There is no obligation to continue after this initial meeting — it is simply an opportunity for us to see whether I am the right therapist for you. If you decide to move forward, we can discuss how best to structure the follow-up sessions to suit your needs.
