About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m a qualified counsellor based in Loughborough, with over 5 years’ experience working with a wide range of clients — particularly children and young people and 20 years experience working in educational settings.
I offer a flexible, tailored approach shaped around each individual’s unique needs. My work draws on several therapeutic models including integrative therapy, person-centred, transactional analysis, psychoanalytic approaches, and play therapy — allowing us to explore what feels most helpful and appropriate for each client.
Over the years, I’ve supported clients with a broad range of personal, social, and cultural issues, such as anxiety, low mood, identity, relationships, loss, bereavement, school-related challenges, and emotional regulation. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space where people can be heard and supported to make sense of their experiences.
While I work across the age range, I have particular experience with children and young people, using creative and age-appropriate methods to help them express themselves and build emotional resilience.
I offer sessions on a short- or long-term basis, depending on what feels right for you, and I’m happy to discuss your needs during an initial conversation.
My first session
Before booking your first session, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, talk briefly about what’s bringing you to counselling, and get a sense of whether I’m the right therapist for you. There’s no obligation to continue — it’s simply a chance for us to connect and for you to decide how you’d like to proceed.
Your first full session typically lasts 50 minutes and is an opportunity for us to meet, get to know each other, and begin to explore what has brought you to therapy. It’s a calm, supportive space where you can talk at your own pace about what’s going on for you and what you hope to gain from counselling.
We’ll begin with introductions and a brief discussion about how I work, including confidentiality, boundaries, and practical details such as session length, fees, and frequency. You’ll also have time to ask any questions you may have.
I’ll then invite you to share more about the difficulties you’re experiencing and what feels most important for you right now. There’s no pressure to talk about anything you’re not ready to — you remain in control of what you share, and I’ll support you throughout.
The first session is also a chance for us both to see whether we feel comfortable working together. If we decide to continue, we can begin to think about how therapy might support you moving forward and what future sessions could look like.
