About me and my therapy practice

I provide a non-judgemental space to help you explore your feelings and offer the support needed to move towards your true self. It can be a difficult decision to try counselling and it takes courage to start. I want to assure you that, although it can feel like a risk, finding a place of deeper understanding which can lead to a happier and more fulfilling life is a very rewarding experience.

I am an experienced counsellor, and having met a higher standard for practice as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner, have been awarded Â鶹ԭ´´ accreditation.

Practice description

I have over 5 years of experience working in private practice, having graduated from a 3-year masters course with distinction in Psychodynamic counselling from Essex University. Prior to this I studied for a PG Cert. in Person Centred Counselling at the University of East Anglia.

With over 5 years of experience working privately and in schools with children and adolescents and, as an accredited member of the Â鶹ԭ´´, I am also qualified to offer counselling to students who are themselves undertaking counselling training courses at colleges and universities.

In my practice I use psychodynamic thinking, the study of interacting motives and emotions, which has it's origins in psychoanalysis. Central to the psychodynamic way of thinking is the idea that we are guided in our behaviours, actions, feelings, choices and ways of relating to others by factors of which we are not consciously aware. From very early in our lives, long before we can think in words or remember our thoughts, we are being influenced by what happens to us and by the emotional atmosphere around us. These experiences are in the unconscious and yet influence how we relate to ourselves and others in our everyday.

I work in private practice in Ipswich via in-person consultation as well as remotely.

My first session

I offer an initial assessment by telephone following your enquiry which is free of charge.  I do this to ensure that you should feel under no obligation to accept my counselling services.

Thereafter, should you choose to continue, we will enter into an agreement together and I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your specific needs. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.
