About me and my therapy practice

I welcome clients of all ages but have a special focus on young adults, teenagers, and children having dedicated much of my life to understanding and supporting these crucial stages of development. My goal is to provide a safe, warm, and non-judgmental space where you or your child can explore challenges, find relief from distress, and rediscover joy and calm.

In today’s world, anxiety, sadness, and loneliness are on the rise especially among young people navigating academic pressures, social media, climate concerns, and the complexities of relationships, gender, and self-identity. It takes real courage to reach out for help, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

My approach is collaborative and empowering, helping you or your child develop self-acceptance and the confidence to make positive changes. I believe in building a trusting, compassionate relationship where you can speak freely and feel truly heard.

Choosing the right therapist can feel overwhelming. To help you feel at ease, I offer a free phone or Zoom consultation before your first session. I also provide a reduced-rate initial session for new clients. Simply email me to book your first appointment—either in person or online.

Practice description

Drawing on my background as a university and school counsellor, as well as my work with a charity supporting those who have experienced childhood sexual trauma, I strive to bring a thoughtful and empathetic perspective to my practice. My work also includes my experience supporting children and adolescents within an inpatient mental health unit (CAMHS), equipping me to help clients facing a wide range of challenges - from anxiety and depression to issues of neurodiversity and complex trauma, including sexual abuse or assault.

I have a special interest in working with neurodivergent individuals and those affected by trauma. I welcome adults who are parents or carers seeking support with the practical and emotional challenges of parenthood, as well as those wishing to address their own childhood trauma that may be affecting their relationships with their children. I deeply value the importance of being a positive role model, setting healthy boundaries, and experiencing the warmth and joy of close, accepting relationships.

While my core approach is person-centred, I am also trained in evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)—both recommended by NICE and widely used in NHS services for children, adolescents, and adults. DBT offers powerful techniques for emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and mindfulness, helping you or your child build resilience and find greater balance in life.

No matter your age or background, I am committed to providing a safe, supportive space where you can explore your concerns, heal from past experiences, and establish healthy boundaries to experience the love and joy that close, accepting relationships can bring.

My first session

I offer an initial exploratory session at a reduced fee in which we can discuss what has brought you or your child to therapy.

We can also talk through whether I can offer the right kind of support for you, so you feel confident and informed in deciding if my work is the right match.

We will go through fees, session times and my cancellation policy. I’ll also provide you with some information about my service and my privacy policy.

If you are a parent or carer looking for a therapist for your child, I invite you to join the first part of the initial session; if your child is comfortable with this. As a mother of six children, two of whom are stepchildren, I understand how important it is to find a warm, safe, and competent therapist for you and your child to talk to. I will take time to explain how I work and how therapy could be helpful.

Sessions last 50 minutes and are held via zoom or in person. Times can be reduced for younger children.
