About me and my therapy practice

I’m Rachael.  I'm a qualified integrative psychotherapist and Counsellor. I work with Children, Adolescents (13-18) and Adults. I also provide Therapeutic parenting support. I work on-line with Adults and Adolescents and in person with children 3-14. I currently have no in person spaces to work with children, but have the capacity to provide online adolescent and adult therapy and therapeutic parenting support.

Therapeutic Parenting support provision means that we can think together about the issues your child might be presenting with, where your child is too young to work online or not ready to engage with the therapeutic process. sometimes just speaking out-loud to a receptive other in a therapeutic capacity, helps to re-think the relationship between you and your child and bring a new sensitivity of understanding, to what is going on for your child and can facilitate how you then approach them, to affect change.

The integrative approach means that I am trained to use psychodynamic, Attachment and person-centered modalities. I am further trained to consider both Jungian and Psychoanalytic perspectives. What this means is that I will work with you to explore your unconscious processes and past experiences in order to understand your current feelings and behaviours. I will think about you and how you have attached to your caregivers and what this means for your present relationships and how this might be manifesting subtly and overtly, and I will strive to be empathic, fully accepting in how I see and meet you and where you are currently. My intention is to be genuine and congruent with my feelings and what I see in you and what we explore together in non-judgemental and understanding ways.  I aim to bring warmth in to our interactions as you take time and space to explore yourself as we collaborate together to enable this to happen.

Practice description

I have been working with children and families since 2007, providing emotional support as a family and community support practitioner in Schools London-wide . I have alongside this, worked with parents and very young children (0-3) as a Steiner-Waldorf trained play leader and this incredibly gentle approach to child development, still informs my practice. I have had a therapeutic practice working with children since 2016 in Schools and Colleges and have worked with adult clients since 2018. I am deeply committed to working with children, adolescents, adults and families.

I provide both online short term and long term psychotherapy and counselling and one-off or short-term and longer-term therapeutic parenting support online. I have some evening and some weekend availability.

My experience is in working with anxiety, depression, low mood, separation, divorce, early relational trauma, abuse, issues around racial and cultural identity, relationship breakdown, bereavement, loss, child-related issues and self-esteem.

I have a Diploma in Counselling From University of Cambridge - Homerton 2015

Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling From the University of Cambridge - Homerton 2018

Masters in Psychodynamic Human Development (Jungian and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy) - British Psychotherapy Foundation and Birkbeck University of London 2024.

I am a member of the Â鶹ԭ´´ and have had a practice since 2016.

My first session

I know from experience that choosing a therapist can be a complicated and somewhat confusing process, but it is also vitally important that you take your time and make a good choice for yourself in the first part of the pathway to you getting your needs met in a therapeutic space. I will facilitate this for you by scheduling a free 15 minute phone conversation where I will encourage you to use your felt sense so that you can work out what you're looking for in a therapist.

If, after our free 15 minute conversation you want to proceed, we will have an Online meeting.   we will take the time to discuss what has brought you to therapy and this will give you an opportunity to see how I work.  The online meeting is 50 minutes and charged at the same price as sessions which are also 50 minutes.  Therapy is not assumed but if you choose to go ahead, we will set specific dates and times in this meeting.

My holiday dates will be provided in advance to you. To cancel a session  48 hours notice is expected.
