About me and my therapy practice

As a qualified Â鶹ԭ´´ registered counsellor, I have experience of working with young people and adults in a person centred and integrative way. I have worked with a range of issues such as bereavement, childhood/inner child, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and loss. I see each person as an individual, acknowledging and respecting the courage that it takes to talk to someone about your feelings. Trained predominantly in person centred therapy, I offer this to my private practice clients as the foundation mode that I work in.

Alongside my private practice, I am an affiliate counsellor for two EAP organisations which offer short term, solution focused therapy. When in the room with a client, I will sometimes bring in tools from my tool box, in the form of creative techniques and a more directive solution focused therapy if appropriate. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor for counsellors.

I work with adults, young people (14+) and couples.

Practice description

Counselling can be both difficult and empowering.

I am able to provide a safe and comfortable space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental environment. I also offer online counselling sessions if this is something that works better for you.

I believe that you are the expert in your life, I am here to help you realise that. I have experience of working with young people and adults in a person centred way.  Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in a variety of educational roles both in mainstream and SEN, leading me to have many years experience of working with young people ranging from high school to young adults. In my counselling role, I now work with older teenagers, adults and couples. I feel each client is unique in their needs, meaning that sessions are personalised to you. Whether this be face to face in my office, online via zoom or working together using more creative techniques, sessions are client led.

Counselling can allow you to take a side step away from life, and give you the space and time to explore how you are feeling and process past and present events.

About me and my therapy practice

As a supervisor, I offer support, listening, gentle challenging and encouragement without judgement in your supervision. I bring my down to earth authentic self in creating a balanced and trusting supervisory relationship, sometimes with a little humour! I use the 7 eyed supervision model - looking at the client, the therapist, the supervisor, the relationships between therapist, client and supervisor, and the wider system.

Trained in person centred therapy, I predominantly offer this to my private practice clients as the mode that I work in. I'm also an affiliate counsellor for an EAP organisation, giving me an alternative approach and understanding to therapy. When in the room with a client, I will sometimes bring in tools from my tool box, in the form of creative techniques and a more directive solution focused therapy if appropriate.

Before becoming a counsellor, I went to university where I studied for my BA honors degree in Education Studies with Identity Studies and then went on to work in the Education Sector for many years, both in mainstream and SEN.

Supervision sessions can be held either online via zoom or face to face at my office in Wigan. Sessions are £60 for 90 minutes. I offer a reduced fee of £50 per 90 minutes for counsellors in training.

I also offer a free 20 minute, no obligation intro session. If you would like to arrange a chat to see if we could work together, please do drop me a message or email and we can work out a convenient time and day.

Please be mindful that my emails sometimes land in junk/spam box.
