About me and my therapy practice
You’re probably coming to therapy wanting to change something. You might be in a great deal of pain or suffering. Give me a call or to see how I can help.
I remember a time in my life like that, and I didn’t know if therapy could help. A good friend encouraged me to find a counsellor, and although it was sometimes a difficult experience, my counsellor helped me find hope and self-belief. I’m Luke, and if you work with me I can help you find some hope, and a fuller, more expansive life.
As a Humanistic therapist my aim is to help you embrace all aspects of your experience, the dark and the light, and to realise that you’re not broken or defective, even if it feels that way at the moment. I can help you find self-confidence, and find trust in yourself. Trust that it is OK to be authentically you, in the fullest sense.
We all twist ourselves out of shape slightly in order to fit into the world, and to get on with other people. Sometimes we twist so much it hurts, and we learn to carry that pain, often for many years. Through our sessions I can help you explore how you’ve twisted yourself in the past, and the possibility of readjusting yourself.
I’ve been working with clients since 2017, and work with individual adults (18+). I’ll work with you for as long or as short a time as necessary. I offer you a space where all aspects of yourself are welcome. I will rarely offer direct advice, because you know you better than I ever will. The pain we carry from twisting ourselves out of shape was formed in relationship with others. As a therapist I am an expert in building an effective relationship where that same pain can be really seen, held, and accepted. A space where you can learn to truly accept yourself, as you are, and find a new way forward.
Don’t suffer in silence, reach out and see how I can help.
Practice description
I work online via video.
I currently see adults (18 and over) and normally suggest that we meet at the same time every week for as long as you'd like. We can agree a number from the outset (e.g. 6-8 sessions) or keep things more open ended. Either way I normally ask every few sessions how you feel we're progressing.
I charge £60 per session, and each session will last 50 minutes.
Areas I can help with include:
- Anxiety (e.g. health anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, racing thoughts)
- Bereavement, grief or loss
- Depression or low mood
- Existential crisis or identity crisis
- Personal growth
- Relationships
- Self-esteem or self-confidence
Please visit my for more information.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity to explain why you’re seeking therapy, what you’d like to get from it, if you have an idea of how many sessions you'd like, and to ask me any questions about how I work.
If you've had therapy before I may ask what was helpful about it, and what wasn't. I’ll encourage regular honest feedback about how therapy is progressing. The relationship between us may be an important part of our work together.
