About me and my therapy practice
You are important and you deserve to be happy. For me, therapy is about helping you find your joy.
When we look in the mirror we have the right to like what we see. Sometimes, looking in the mirror can be painful, so I'll stand beside you and we'll look in the mirror together until you feel ready to look alone.
I believe connection is key to the process, so I won't burden you with lots of theory. We'll sit down together and talk about you.
It's an approach I've built based on my own personal, lived experience. I've had my own emotional difficulties to overcome in life. The personal therapy I have undertaken on my own journey has been invaluable, helping me to navigate what has, at times, been a difficult and confusing emotional journey. I've also lived with Parkinson’s Disease for almost 30 years. Having a chronic illness doesn't mean I've got all the answers, but it does mean I've had to ask myself a lot of very challenging questions. I understand how difficult life can be.
Moving beyond the trauma, therapy has also helped me to find fulfilment, meaning and direction in my life. That’s why I decided to train to become a therapist and it’s why I am so passionate about supporting people who find themselves feeling lost and emotionally distressed.
I see therapy as a journey. It's about learning how to put down unnecessary burdens and how to become our most authentic self, free from the issues that have held us back and ready to live our best life.
It's time to heal, to find your smile and to show the world how amazing you really are.
I support clients with a wide range of concerns, but I have a special focus on disability, chronic health conditions, anxiety (social and medical) and family trauma.
I also have experience working with the creative and performing arts community as well as career development for people in senior leadership roles and coping with burnout.
I have an Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy (Transactional Analysis) Level 7.
Practice description
We are all individuals and we all have our own experiences of life. How we navigate its challenges and the level of support we require will be different for all of us.
The first session can feel very much like tipping a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle on a table. There are bits everywhere and nothing makes much sense as a whole. Initially, we'll be looking for the corners and straight edges, the clues that help us to begin building a picture that tells your story. In subsequent sessions, as the picture becomes clearer, you'll have the opportunity to make changes and to create an image that feels right for you, that fits who you are today and who you want to be tomorrow. I deliberately limit the number of clients I see each day to ensure that I am fully present with you and focused on your needs.
You may have a clear idea of why you want to start therapy or you may wish to start because you feel confused and overwhelmed by emotions you are struggling to identify. Maybe you are looking for one or two sessions to address a very specific issue or maybe you are looking for longer term support. Whatever you are bringing and wherever you are starting from, I am here to help.
My first session
To help you begin, I offer an initial free, no obligation 20-minute phone consultation. I’ll introduce myself and we can talk about what’s on your mind and what you would like to achieve. Then you can decide if you think I’m the right person for you to work with.
