About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced Â鶹ԭ´´ accredited psychodynamic counsellor. I provide a confidential space for adults (25+) to explore a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, lack of confidence, low self-esteem, sadness, feeling lost, stuck or confused.

You may be facing a challenging stage of your life, struggling in response to a bereavement, a physical, mental health or spiritual issue or facing work or relationship difficulties. Perhaps you are aware of a painful experience from your past that continues to affect you, or you may be struggling with no easily identifiable cause.

In my counselling practice I work with clients to gain a deeper understanding and clearer perspective of the challenges they are facing and enable them to find a way forward.

As a psychodynamic counsellor I facilitate change by providing you with a non-judgmental, empathic environment where we can reflect together on current concerns and, if helpful, consider how past experiences and relationships are influencing your current thoughts, feelings and actions. This process enables you to work through difficulties and take steps that enhance wellbeing, build resilience and strengthen a sense of identity and purpose.

I have a postgraduate diploma in Psychotherapeutic (psychodynamic) counselling, and I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´). Previous qualifications include a Masters in Social Work Studies and a Degree in History.

I worked for just over 6 years with adult clients and older adults in Â鶹ԭ´´ accredited counselling services in Chichester and Lymington. I have been a volunteer counsellor for a hospice charity and worked as an associate counsellor for a Southampton charity.

Prior to training as a counsellor, I had an extensive social work career, with particular interests in end-of-life care and older people’s mental health. My interest in the impact of loss on psychological health and wellbeing led me to pursue a career in counselling.

My practice is easily accessed from Lymington High Street. There is parking close by. It is located on the first floor accessed via a flight of stairs. Unfortunately, there is no disabled access.

I offer weekly 50 minute sessions at the same time each week. The fee for the initial session is £40 and my standard fee for subsequent sessions is £50.

I work with adults (25-64) and older adults (65+).

I have a Privacy and Data Protection Statement which explains how your personal data is managed during the course of therapy and your rights over your personal data. I will go through this with you when you start therapy. If you contact me and decide not to proceed with therapy, I will delete your personal details.

My first session

If this sounds like the help you are seeking, please contact me by email or telephone. I will then respond and answer any immediate questions you may have and arrange an initial session to explore what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from your sessions. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any further questions and understand how I practice. This session will give us both an opportunity to experience what it may be like to work together, and whether I am the best person to support you at this time.
