About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Richard — an integrative psychotherapist based in Chancery Lane, Central London, and online.

I work with men who want to better understand themselves and improve their mental health.  Clients often come to me to explore anxiety, depression, self-esteem, stress, sex, and relationships.

My approach draws from several therapeutic models — including relational, psychodynamic, and CBT — to create therapy that's tailored to you.  I also work practically, offering everyday tips and tools for managing stress, regulating emotions, navigating work dynamics, and deepening personal relationships.

You don't always need a 'big' reason for therapy.  If you feel you're out of balance, or your emotions are negatively impacting your relationships or work, that's a good enough reason to reach out.  Therapy can help you make sense of what’s happening and move toward a more grounded, confident version of yourself.

Practice description

Many men experience periods of stress, anxiety, or low mood, but find it difficult to talk about what’s going on.  That can lead to withdrawal and isolation, increasing loneliness and creating distance in relationships.

Therapy offers space to reduce stress and gain perspective.  Together, we will explore what’s happening currently and how past experiences or self-beliefs may be shaping your reactions.  I help men develop emotional resilience, clearer self-understanding, and healthier ways of relating to others — at work, in relationships, and within themselves.

I'm an integrative psychotherapist based in London and online, trained at The Minster Centre, one of the UK’s leading institutes for counselling and psychotherapy.  Before retraining, I worked in photojournalism, TV production, and marketing, which deepened my understanding of communication, identity, and confidence.

I’ve also volunteered with Terrence Higgins Trust, Stonewall, and London Friend, experiences that continue to inform my LGBTQ+-affirming, inclusive practice and commitment to helping clients find and use their voice.

My first session

I offer a free online introductory chat so you can ask questions, share what’s brought you to therapy, and get a sense of how I work.  This helps us explore what you’d like to focus on — whether that’s managing stress, anxiety, low mood, or questions about relationships, identity, or sexuality — and whether we feel we’d work well together.

During our conversation, I’ll explain how sessions are structured and what you can expect from therapy.  Many clients say this first chat helps them feel more at ease and clear about what they want from therapy.

If you decide to go ahead, we’ll agree a regular time to meet — either in person near Chancery Lane, London, or online — for a 50-minute session, at £80 per session.

I work with men from all backgrounds — straight, gay, and queer — to help them understand themselves better, build resilience, and create meaningful change.  My practice is LGBTQ+-affirming, professional, and confidential.

Feel free to get in touch to arrange your free introductory chat.  I’ll reply promptly, and we can schedule a time that suits you.
