About me and my therapy practice

There are many reasons why you might decide to begin therapy; anxiety, burnout, depression, adverse childhood experiences, relationship difficulties, minority stress...anything which might be precluding you from joyfulness, meaning and purpose.

We are living in a era of great uncertainty and change, with more access to information and temptation to rely on technology than ever. This can feel overwhelming, and lonely.

I work with adults on a one-to-one basis to assist you, human to human, to process, respond to or engage with whatever might be preventing you from living your life to its fullest and happiest.

I draw on various modalities including working relationally (what is happening between us, here and now) person-centred (you are the expert on your experience) and psychodynamic theory (unconcious processes stemming from childhood and early relating).

My specialisms include:

Depression and anxiety

Burn-out

Childhood abuse, neglect and trauma.

Boarding school childhoods

Fertility, IVF, involuntary childlessness, miscarriage, PPD

Fourth trimester and Matrescence (the psychological birth of the mother, after the physical birth of their baby)

Sibling relationships

GSRD and LGBTQIA+ issues

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´) and adhere to their ethical principles and Code of Professional Conduct

I am a full clinical psychotherapist member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and subscribe to its code of ethics

I am a member of British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA) and recently completed their advanced training

I trained at the Minster Centre, one of Europe's leading integrative psychotherapy training institutions

I hold an Advanced Diploma and MA in Integrative Psychotherapy Minster Centre and Middlesex University

I am a member of The Relational School, The Minster Centre and I am a media volunteer for The Fertility Network.

I undertake regular CPD which recently has included sibling relationships and AI.

Practice description

The first step is for us to have an initial 25 minute session. There is no fee for this and it can be online, in-person or on the phone. During this, we will discuss what has brought you to this point and I will answer any questions you may have regarding beginning therapy. There is no obligation to make any commitment beyond this session.

If you would like to continue with therapy, we will pick a time each week to begin our meetings.

We meet on the first floor in a block of therapy rooms at Miller's Yard, just off Gillygate in York. There is a waiting room on the ground floor, and I will come and meet you there. My consultation room is light, airy and private.

York station is a 10 minute walk. Union Terrace, Monks Bar and Bootham Row are all nearby car parks, and there is parking available on nearby streets.

I also work outdoors and online. See my website for more details.
