About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Matt, an integrative psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and psychosexual and relationship therapist. My pronouns are he/they.
I offer integrative psychotherapy, blending humanistic, psychodynamic, and cognitive therapy into a cohesive approach. I work collaboratively to understand what is going on for you and how to address those issues. I am experienced with working with a wide range of issues but particularly work with anxiety, neurodivergence, LGBTQIA+, gender, sex and relationship diversity, self-harm, spirituality/faith, and survivors of conversion practices.
I also offer psychosexual and Relationship therapy, which is a specialist type of therapy designed to address issues such as relational dynamics, communication, sexual dysfunctions, compulsive sexual behaviours, or Chemsex.
My practice is queer and neurodivergent affirming. I have significant experience working with neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, polyamorous, and BDSM/Kink communities. This experience is further underpinned by training and CPD. I also bring my lived experience as a queer, neurodivergent therapist. I recently completed the first clinical study into autistic people’s experiences of psychosexual therapy, which I hope to have published later in 2025. Prior to training as a therapist, I spent many years working and volunteering for different LGBT+ organisations.
I have an HND in Counselling, Open Degree studying Counselling & Forensic Psychology, and an MSc with distinction in Contemporary Psychosexual Therapy.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´) and a registered member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT). I am a Clinical Associate of Pink Therapy.
Practice description
I initially qualified as an integrative therapist in 2020. My initial therapy training included substantial training in humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive and pluralistic counselling theories, grief and bereavement, addiction, psychopathology, and group counselling. Throughout my training we worked creatively, embracing collage, art and poetry. I have carried this over to my client work as I offer working creatively to explore mental health.
I have an MSc with Distinction in Contemporary Psychosexual Therapy. As part of this training, I covered working with diverse communities, addressing psychosexual issues, understanding relationship dynamics, working with compulsive sexual behaviours and Chemsex. I have undertaken further CPD in these areas.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Matt, an integrative psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and psychosexual and relationship therapist. My pronouns are he/they.
I am a qualified supervisor and able to offer clinical supervision for therapists and for trainee counsellors. I work using the seven eyed model of supervision while also considering the importance of the three functions of supervision (formative, normative, and restorative). As a supervisor, my role is to support you with your client work and to facilitate exploration of issues arising from this work. I regularly work with Bond’s Ethical Decision Making Model for collaboratively approach ethical dilemmas.
I have completed the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Supervision, which includes 15 credits at SCQF level 9.
I was previously the Student Counselling Lead for Edinburgh College where I managed a team of qualified and trainee counsellors. I would run the counselling team group supervision. I would provide additional supervision for both counsellors and trainee counsellors within the team as required. I am experienced with supporting and managing trainee counsellors.
I bring experience of handling complex ethical issues such as self-harm or suicidal ideation. In addition, I have substantial experience around working with Neurodivergence, GSRD (Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity), and Spirituality.
I do not currently offer supervision for working with under 16s or for psychosexual and relationship therapy.
I am able to offer supervision online by zoom or in-person at the West End in Edinburgh. Please note that my office is on the second floor of a listed building that does not have an elevator.
I currently have some space for supervisees. I charge £70 per hour for clinical supervision. I offer a reduced rate of £50 per hour for trainee counsellors.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute initial meeting. This gives an opportunity to discuss your supervision needs, ask any questions you may have, and see if you feel we would be able to work well together.
