About me and my therapy practice

Talking is a powerful tool that makes a real difference. I can help you talk through the issues you face and help you move forward. We will work together to get you to whatever your goal is, whether that’s being happier, finding meaning, being healthier, or just coping with life better.

Starting counselling can be daunting. In sessions I will always be accepting and professional, making sure you feel safe at all times. I work with a collaborative and relational approach, meaning our sessions will be conversational and should feel like teamwork.

I have worked with a broad spectrum of presenting issues and difficulties, and I am able to help you understand your difficulties, accept what you can’t change and make key changes where you can. I will always be reassuring and friendly, but I’ll also challenge you when it’s appropriate. I won’t ever rush you in our work but I also won’t let the sessions drift by without us moving forward. We will regularly check in with our progress together which is an important part of therapy.

Practice description

I work in person from my counselling room in Hove,  on Portland Road. I’m also available to work online through Zoom.

I work with adults and young people, and with both males and females. I think the variety of clients in my practice is a real strength and I’m proud that people from different sections of society can gain really positive outcomes in our work.

Outside of my private practice I work 2 days a week for a small charity in secondary schools and with CAMHS.

My first session

In our first session we will complete our assessment. This is a thorough look at how life is currently and an exploration of key parts of your life history. This involves discussing family and any current risks.

I will be flexible in how much I lead this session, some people prefer to be lead with questions and some just want to explain in depth what they are feeling in their own words, either is perfectly ok, and it’s important you do what suits you best.
