About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel anxious, depressed, angry, confused, overwhelmed or stressed?
Do you feel hopeless, lost, unsupported and alone?
Do you feel you don't know who you are or even if you have a future?
Are you going through a difficult situation and need to find a way through?
Are you struggling to make a decision?
Are you worried about your own or someone else's drug or alcohol use?
Are you having relationship or family difficulties or conflict?
Are you finding it difficult to cope and maybe not eating or sleeping?
Or have you always lived with fear and anxiety?
I can offer you space to breathe and to be calm
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist I believe we need to understand the impact of past experiences in order to find happiness and achieve our full potential.
I can support you to understand your emotions, your relationships, find out who you are and to work out who you want to become.
My aim is to help you to identify the changes you want to make, to make choices you're happy with and to confidently explore what life can offer you.
I can help you to move forward with hope
Practice description
I am a trauma informed psychodynamic psychotherapist and a qualified and registered social worker. I obtained Masters degrees in both Social Work and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the University of Leicester. I have trained in Internal Family Systems, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Attachment.
I have worked as a Safeguarding Lead at a local charity.
I have twenty five years experience of supporting clients who have experienced childhood trauma; difficulties with drug and alcohol use; challenging relationships; low self esteem and self worth; mental ill health and loss of personal identity.
I have supported clients with various mental health diagnoses including PTSD, BPD and EUPD and whilst I am respectful of these, my belief remains that most mental health difficulties are caused by previous traumatic experiences and that psychotherapy can make a significant improvement.
I am a qualified social worker with experience of supporting and providing psychotherapy to young people who have been subject to Child Sexual Exploitation including on line, perpetrator and peer group grooming.
I have supported young people who are struggling with bullying, gender identity, eating disorders and estrangement from family.
I work face to face with clients from my private counselling rooms in Rearsby. I also offer Zoom and telephone counselling if required.
My first session
I believe healing occurs through the strength of the counselling relationship so I offer an initial 30 minute assessment session free to make sure we are right for each other before we begin our work together.
