About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am passionate about Counselling/Psychotherapy and using the space it creates to explore my clients experience of life and to develop a therapeutic relationship.
My first degree is in Social Anthropology, learning about and understanding people, their experience and perception of the world. I have gained a broad range of experience, working in and across many social and cultural settings.
Talking freely and confidentially without judgement can in itself be therapeutic. In addition to this we can look at the world of psychology (the science of the mind) to explain patterns of behaviour. This can be enormously helpful in having greater self awareness a better understanding of our life.
My aim is to meet your needs and to engage with you in a way that is helpful. Counselling can often help with trauma experiences, anxieties, low mood and depression, those struggling with grief or supporting those with long term illnesses or disabilities. It can also help if you have relationship difficulties, issues with body image and self worth/esteem and engage with coping mechanisms like alcohol, drugs, self harming and Eating Disorders.
By creating a safe space for you to explore and discover, healing and understanding can emerge. Together we can take the time to make sense of the past, to live in the present and look forward to a future where you grow and flourish in all aspects of your life.
Practice description
I have a a PG Dip in Psychotherapy and Counselling and am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´). I have extensive experience working with adults, young people and children.
I am Integrative/Humanistic Therapist, the most important and healing element of therapy is the establishment of an open and honest relationship between us. An Integrative approach means I adapt my practice to meet the needs of my clients. All people are different, with different life stories, we can work together to look at interventions that might help.
By combining different schools of psychological theory/research, in an integrative and collaborative way, I aim to provide space for examination, experiment and thought. Noticing and accept who you are; integrating parts of who you are and finding wholeness in yourself.
I am trained in a trauma informed way, accessing somatic and psycho-therapeutic approaches that explore the roots of trauma, anxiety, and other stress-related issues. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness, Bereavement and Compassion Focused Therapy and Creative Therapy with a qualification in drawing and talking. I also use aspects of Attachment Theory and Internal Family Systems.
Over time I have gathered a range of training, skills and am interested in the diverse and creative ways in which people express themselves.
As a member of the Â鶹Դ´ I work within their Ethical Framework and am professionally Supervised and undergo continuous professional development training.
