About me and my therapy practice
My name is Arlene Dunkley-Wood, and I am a dedicated counsellor, psychotherapist, and perinatal mental health recovery practitioner. I offer a person-centred and flexible approach to counselling, specifically designed for those navigating the complexities of pregnancy, birth, and post-birth experiences. My focus is on providing support through six weekly sessions that involve trauma rewind and perinatal birth recovery, creating a safe space for birthing parents and those on their birthing journey. The birth process can often be unpredictable, and complications may arise at various stages of your journey. My deep passion for supporting women has led me to specialise in perinatal mental health, where I aim to provide the care and understanding that is so essential during this transformative time.
With over 30 years of experience as a doula and birth educator, I am well-equipped to offer the guidance and support your need. Together, we will adopt a solutions-focused approach to help you reach a future state where you can effectively monitor and manage your emotional well-being. This will empower you and your family to function in a healthy manner, bolstering your self-confidence and nurturing your relationships. I utilize a range of tools, including active listening, mindfulness practices, breath exercises, solution-focused questioning, Traumatic Birth Rewind techniques if necessary, visualisation, hypnotherapy, and fostering self-compassion to support your healing journey.
If this resonates with you, I encourage you to reach out so we can begin your path to wellness. Your experiences are treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality, ensuring a safe space for you to explore your feelings and challenges.I am committed to working with all birthing individuals and their families, regardless of background or ethnicity, and I truly believe in creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and supported.
