About me and my therapy practice
I offer EMDR and talking therapy, sometimes combined with parts work and creative techniques, depending on what feels right for you.
Real change comes through connection and exploring experiences that continue to shape how we feel, think, and respond鈥攅ven when we鈥檙e not fully aware of them. You might notice strong reactions to situations, persistent anxiety or self-doubt, or feelings that seem out of proportion. You might experience flashbacks, intrusive memories, or sudden waves of distress. These often come from parts of yourself holding onto past painful experiences.
How EMDR Can Help
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional intensity. It can help with a range of difficulties including:
鈥 Trauma or PTSD (including childhood or relational trauma)
鈥 Anxiety, panic, or phobias
鈥 Accidents or sudden life events
鈥 Grief or loss
鈥 Repeated relational patterns
鈥 Feeling 鈥渟tuck鈥 despite previous therapy
What to Expect
We would start by building a strong therapeutic foundation, ensuring you were well resourced before processing difficult memories. I may also use "parts work" or creative methods before, during, and after memory processing.
Parts work helps you connect with different aspects of yourself. Protective parts (like the inner critic, people-pleasing or emotional shutdown) once helped you survive, while vulnerable parts might carry fear, shame, or sadness. Gently exploring these parts allows protective parts to soften and vulnerable parts to receive the care and understanding they may have missed.
Creative techniques鈥攕uch as guided visualisations, drawing, or writing鈥攃an help you feel supported throughout therapy.
By integrating EMDR with parts work and creative techniques, you can release old patterns or memories that have been holding you back, soothe intense emotions, and cultivate self-compassion, helping you feel more fully yourself.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face sessions in a lovely, peaceful room in Gosforth, Newcastle.
If you would prefer to work online, please do let me know. I also offer online sessions via Zoom.
Ongoing Weekly Support
I usually work with clients on a weekly basis, at the same time each week. That kind of consistency helps build trust, creates a steady rhythm, and offers the support you need as the work deepens.
At the same time, I understand that therapy is a big financial commitment. I aim to make the work both meaningful and affordable. Some people come for a focused block of 8 to 12 sessions, while others choose to work with me in a more open-ended way 鈥 we can talk together about what feels realistic and sustainable for you.
Private Insurance
I am also a recognised psychotherapy provider for Aviva, AXA Health and WPA. If you have a policy with one of these insurers, please contact them to confirm whether your policy covers you for psychotherapy work with me.
