About me and my therapy practice
Helping you with - Your Story. Your Feelings. Your Way.
Hi there, My name is Amanda.
As a neurodivergent woman and counsellor from a working-class Northern background, I understand the unspoken pressures that many people face - to just get on with it, stay strong, silent, and cope alone. However, through my approach, I am able to offer you a space to explore your emotions experiences, and relationships with depth and compassion.
I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor, relationship therapist and clinical supervisor. However, therapy sessions with me are grounded, human, and relational. My aim is to create a positive and professional working relationship that helps you to feel secure and emotionally safe, without judgement and attuned to who you are, and not who society thinks or you are expected to be.
Practice description
I run a small online and telephone therapy practice that due to its nature and limited number of clients at any one time, enables me to provide both the flexibility and additional support that many clients may need if they are navigating unpredictable work schedules, chronic health issues and/or neurodivergence.
Ways that I can help -
Anxiety and Depression, Attachments, Adverse Childhood Experiences including Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse, Relationship and Family Dynamics, Chronic Illness and Disability, Neurodivergence, Identity, Finding Purpose, Communication, Confidence and Self-Esteem, Complex and Generational Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress, Complex Grief and Bereavement, Baby, Child and Infant Loss, including Infertility, Major Life Changes and Loss, Intimacy, Isolation and Loneliness.
So whether you're struggling to navigate life's daily challenges and expectations, dealing with the impact from past events that may keep resurfacing or understanding the people and relationships around you, together we will understand and build on your current ways of coping, and connect you toward healing in a way that feels right for you. Regardless of whether you’re seeking individual counselling or sessions within your relationship/couple, for either short-term support or deeper long-term work, we’ll go at a pace that feels right for you, even if that means remaining still, because sometimes we do not realise the weight of what we have been carrying until we feel the lightness of its release.

About me and my therapy practice
As a neurodivergent individual myself, therapist and supervisor, I provide an inclusive and validating practice where my aim is to then help you explore and identify the emotional patterns and relational dynamics between you and your clients, in addition to your therapeutic work and ongoing learning.
I also make it your choice in how we connect, either face to face, telephone, video link or a combination of each, and especially if you work in these different formats with your clients, in the hope that you are able to feel a level of comfort and continue to thrive during your supervision sessions.
Practice description
I am deeply committed to creating a non-discriminatory, creative and inclusive therapeutic environment, where individuals and groups from all backgrounds, abilities and identities feel welcome and respected. I recognise the importance of cultural sensitivity and strive to integrate each your unique and personal experiences into the therapeutic process.
For over 30 years, I have continued to support others through both paid and volunteer work. Previous roles have included coaching, mentoring and training, for individuals and groups within the private and voluntary sectors.
My first session
Our first contact is usually a chat over the phone to establish our professional compatibility. For example - client groups, modalities, location etc.
If you are then happy to schedule in a first session, I would then email you some documentation, such as contact form, draft working agreement and privacy policy for you to view and contact me for any additional information or questions.
Once I have received your consent to proceed, your first session is then booked and payment is due 48hrs prior to the start time.
