About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Anna Harlow and I am a qualified Counsellor and Registered member of the Â鶹Դ´. As an integrative Counsellor I have trained in more than one counselling style such as Person-Centred, CBT and Attachment, which I believe makes me more flexible in how we approach our work together, tailoring it to suit your needs.
At the core of my approach is a belief that change is possible and is underpinned by a deeper knowing and trusting of oneself. This greater self-awareness allows us to make more informed choices about our lives and our relationships, offering greater freedom and new opportunities. However, exploring our internal world is often unfamiliar and naturally can bring up uncomfortable feelings or fears.
As your Counsellor I will be alongside you with kindness, warmth and without judgement. We will work at a pace that feels right for you as I bring my knowledge to support you in accessing your thoughts and feelings and to make sense of your experiences. I offer you a safe and confidential space where you will be truly heard and valued.
In couples counselling, the work focusses on re-establishing emotional safety within the relationship to increase trust and connection which can be damaged by years of not feeling seen or valued. We track the negative cycles that can get in the way of true connection and learn different ways to show up in our relationships which can lead to lasting positive change.
Practice description
I offer a free 20 minute telephone / zoom call to introduce ourselves.
Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes and cost £50 for individuals, £60 for couples (or any relationship with more than one person) or a reduced rate of £35 for students.
I offer counselling in person from my comfortable office in Shrewsbury and I also offer online sessions using Zoom.

My first session
The first session is an opportunity for you to see how comfortable you feel talking to me and for us to explore your reasons for coming to counselling. We will also discuss important aspects of counselling such as confidentiality.
If it feels right for you, we can identify some goals or a direction that you would like to be going in and this can help focus our work together. Alternatively you may want to see what feels important to explore on a session by session basis.
For couples, I use a three session assessment where I see you as a couple together, followed by an individual session with each partner.
At the end of the first session we would discuss whether you want to book another session - you are under no obligation to do so as finding the right counsellor that you feel you can trust is important.
