About me and my therapy practice

Hi I'm Sue, an experienced relationship and bereavement counsellor with a background working in the NHS and charity sector. I have a caring approach which aims to help you talk openly about your problems and find a way forward which is right for you.

Sometimes we can get stuck in life and overwhelmed with our struggles, often feeling we have no one who will properly understand. This is where a skilled listener can help you sort through difficult thoughts and emotions in a safe and supportive environment.

Whether you have a specific issue that is troubling you, or would like to explore more deeply how you feel about yourself and your beliefs, values and relationships - counselling can help you figure out some answers.

I offer a warm, friendly, respectful and confidential opportunity for you to talk freely about what matters to you. Counselling is a collaborative process whereby we work together to help you make sense of the way you feel about the problems you are facing. I will then help you to explore ways of moving forward with more understanding, clarity and hope.

Practice description

I am a qualified counsellor specialising in relationship problems, bereavement, anxiety and depression. I have experience working with bereavement and mental health charities, workplace support organisations and the NHS.

I work with adults over 18 including older people and university students, and have experience of helping people from all sorts of backgrounds.

I never forget that your experiences are unique to you, and so my approach is always tailored to your individual needs.

I know how daunting it can be to take the first step and start therapy, which is why I offer a free 20 minute introductory Zoom or telephone call to explain how counselling works and discuss what you would like to get out of our sessions together. You can then decide whether my approach would be right for you and how often you would like to meet to talk. I can then also answer any additional questions you may have.

You don't need to make a decision about committing to counselling straight away. If you go away and have a think about it, and feel that I would be a good fit for your needs, we would take it from there. I would send you the necessary paperwork by email and set up a first therapy session via video or telephone.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch and learn more about how counselling can really make a difference to your wellbeing.

My first session

During the first session it is important to make sure you feel comfortable and relaxed - I will aim to put you at your ease and make the experience a positive one.

We can discuss why you are seeking therapy at this time, and what your expectations may be. Each session is always centered around what you need to talk about at that particular time.
