About me and my therapy practice
Life is not easy. The fact that you are looking at my page suggests that there is something in your life that feels stuck, painful, maybe hopeless or unreachable and that you want something different for yourself – that you want things to change.
Perhaps you want to free yourself from repetitive patterns of behaviour, self-limiting beliefs, depression, anxiety, or the impact of trauma. Or maybe you want to deepen your connection to yourself so that life feels richer, more rewarding and that you feel more authentically you.
I understand that asking for help is not easy. Maybe you are not sure if counselling is right for you. Whatever your concerns, I offer you a safe, empathetic and thoughtful space in which you can feel both seen and heard, to begin the journey of change.
Practice description
My approach is both psychodynamic and somatic, so talk-based and relational, with a focus on your embodied experience. This means that we will explore whatever you bring through talking together, and with a curiosity about the felt sensations in your body. If it feels right for you, we may also explore feelings and situations through movement, visualizations, art and other creative forms.
My work also draws on Internal Family Systems and Voice Dialogue as well as Attachment Theory, mindfulness, neuroscience, psycho-education and dream work. I practice in a trauma-informed way to ensure that whatever arises is held in a safe and appropriate way. My wish for you is that you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, so that you can make different choices, live more fully and make the changes you seek.
If your decide to work with me, we will do so at your pace, exploring together whatever it is that you want to bring. This may include current situations, as well as parts of your past, life events and ways of being that you may feel define you, but perhaps no longer serve you.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and are usually scheduled for the same day and time each week.
I offer a free 20-minute call or ZOOM during which you can tell me a little more about yourself, ask questions about what to expect from counselling with me, and see if I am a good fit for your right now. Please call or email me and I'd be happy to arrange that.
